In Shakespeare's 400th anniversary year, Cheek by Jowl today announce that their critically acclaimed Russian language production of Measure for Measure will open the 2016 Shakespeare Festival at Hamlet's Castle, Kronborg, Elsinore, with performances from 1 to 7 August. The festival will also celebrate a landmark anniversary, marking the 200th year of performing Shakespeare in this traditional setting.

Cheek by Jowl's latest Russian-language work of Measure for Measure has been co-produced with Moscow's Pushkin Theatre and in May was filmed at their London base at the Barbican Centre, of which they are Artistic Associates. Cheek by Jowl today announces that Eleanor Lang has been appointed the Company's new Executive Director - she takes up the role in January 2016. Lang, now the Executive Director of Free Word, has spent ten years working for a number of arts organisations including the Donmar Warehouse, Y Touring Theatre Company, BAC and the Bush Theatre, as well as working as a freelance producer. Most recently, she has worked with Rose Fenton, running Free Word, the UK's only centre for literature, literacy and freedom of expression. She is on the board of Rose Bruford College and Tonic Theatre.
