Patricia Watt, Executive Producer of the 2011 Fred & Adele Astaire Awards, has announced the first group of Presenters for the 29th Annual Fred & Adele Astaire Awards, In addition to Len Cariou and Brian Stokes Mitchell who will co-present the Douglas Watt Lifetime Achievement Award to legendary, dancer, choreographer, teacher and star of stage, film and television Jacques D'Amboise, additional presenters include Bill Irwin, Maurice Hines, Christine Andreas, Charlotte D'amboise, Christopher D'amboise and Karen Ziemba.
Nikki Gil, TV personality, actress and recording artist, seems to be fascinated playing off-beat characters in stage musicals. Gil made her theater debut as blonde sorority star Elle Woods last year. And she's set to grace the stage again starring as dancer-for-hire Charity Hope Valentine in 9 Works Theatrical's production of the Broadway musical comedy Sweet Charity in August.
According to an audition notice, the musical revival of CARRIE will hold a development lab at MCC from May 25, 2011 through June 7, 2011. Stafford Arima will direct, Matt Williams will choreograph, and Mary Mitchell-Campell will musical direct.

CARRIE is back, according to an Equity casting notice that was just released a few moments ago. A 29-Hour reading is scheduled for February. Exact dates will be determined based on actor's schedules once cast. The notice specifically calls for submission for the roles of Carrie and Sue Snell. Auditions will take place in mid-December.

Rolex presented Career Transition For Dancers' 25th ANNIVERSARY SILVER JUBILEE: A STAR-STUDDED RETROSPECTIVE at New York City Center, last night, November 8. The evening highlighted magical moments from past glittering galas. Artists from some of America's greatest dance companies performed: Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater; American Ballet Theatre; The Joffrey Ballet; MOMIX; National Dance Institute; and Parsons Dance. Also appearing are Tony Award Winners: Marvin Hamlisch (who wrote a song to premiere at the show), Bebe Neuwirth, Ann Reinking, Chita Rivera, Karen Ziemba with Charlotte d'Amboise, Desmond Richardson and Edward Villella. The entertainment/dance event of the new season had show-stopping Broadway numbers from '42nd Street' and 'Chicago.' The 2010 Rolex Dance Award was presented to Twyla Tharp. The Career Transition For Dancers' Awards for Outstanding Contributions to the World of Dance was presented to the organization's four union founders: Actors' Equity Association, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, American Guild of Musical Artists, Screen Actors Guild; as well as an award each to The Barth Family and to the CTFD President Cynthia G.
