Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) is offering three productions in the Nutmeg Summer Series between June 2 and July 17, 2011. Two musicals defined by distinct American eras, Guys & Dolls and My Fair Lady, are matched with Seussical, a musical based on the most famous books of Dr. Seuss. All three productions are available as a subscription. Single tickets will go on sale March 14, 2011.

The season will kick-off with the classic American musical, Guys & Dolls. One of the greatest musicals in Broadway history, this magnificent show has been delighting audiences for more than 50 years.

CRT is delighted to have Broadway legend Terrence Mann performing as Professor Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady. Mr. Mann originated the roles of Rum Tum Tugger in Cats, Javert in Les Miserables, and the Beast in Disney's Beauty and the Beast on Broadway - leading a marvelous cast which includes CRT favorite and UConn Alumni Richard Ruiz as the irrepressibly funny Alfred Dolittle. Broadway star Charlotte d'Amboise, fresh from starring as Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway, will choreograph this beautiful production that will leave you wanting to dance into the night.

CRT welcomes master comedians Steve Hayes, who will play Horton the elephant, and Bradford Scobie, who will play the Cat in the Hat in Seussical. Mr. Hayes is the winner of the Backstage Bistro Award for Comedy Performer of the Year, and three time winner of the MAC Award for Outstanding Comedian and International Performance Artist. Mr. Hayes and Mr. Scobie lead the Seussical cast of vibrant comic and musical performers in this 80 minute family musical that is sure to delight kids and kids at heart.

Guys & Dolls

A Musical Fable of Broadway
Book by Jo Swerling & Abe Burrows
Music and Lyrics by Frank Loesser
June 2 - 12, 2011
Harriet S. Jorgensen Theatre

Guys and Dolls soars with the spirit of old school Broadway razzmatazz. Featuring a hilarious, fast-paced book and a brash, bright, and brassy score, Guys and Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana and memorably into the sewers of New York City for the oldest established permanent floating crap game in New York. Funny and romantic, full of crooks, do-gooders and dames, Guys and Dolls continues to delight audiences more than 50 years after its Broadway premiere. Based on the marvelous stories of Damon Runyon and featuring the songs "Luck be a Lady," "I'll Know When My Love Comes Along," and "Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat," this musical is the perfect balance of story, dance, and melodious romance.

Seussical, The Musical

Music by Stephen Flaherty, Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens
Book by Stephen Flaherty & Lynn Ahrens
Based on the works of Dr. Seuss
June 16 - 26

Nafe Katter Theatre

The exuberant imagination of Dr. Seuss is alive on stage when the musical, mischievous, trouble-making Cat in the Hat magically appears to romp through this tuneful tale of Horton the Elephant. Set to a gumbo of musical styles, ranging from Latin to pop, swing to gospel, and R&B to funk, all ages will enjoy this unforgettable madcap celebration of music, spectacle, and laughter.

My Fair Lady
Book and Lyrics by Allan Jay Lerner
Music by Fredrick Lowe
July 7 - 17, 2011
Harriet S. Jorgensen Theatre

Based on George Bernard Shaw's brilliant play Pygmalion, Lerner and Lowe's My Fair Lady is the perfect musical. Phonetics professor Henry Higgins bets that he can pass a common flower girl off as a society lady in this most elegant, enchanting and heartfelt of stories. It features one of Broadway's most beloved scores including "The Rain in Spain," "I Could Have Danced All Night," "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face," and the comic tour de force "Get Me to the Church on Time!"
