Staged for limited in-person audiences, the 2021 season presents the 31st Bard Music Festival, “Nadia Boulanger and Her World,” which pays tribute to one of the most important female figures in classical music history; the first fully staged American production of King Arthur (Le roi Arthus), and more.

Kansas City Jazz Orchestra Executive Director Lea Petrie today announced the 2021-2022 season which includes the much-anticipated performances of Bird Lives and Hallelujah Holidays.  All performances will be held at the Helzberg Hall of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts (1601 Broadway, KCMO 64108).

Pittsburgh Opera will present the first-ever Pittsburgh performances of George Frideric Handel's baroque gem Semele at its headquarters in the Strip District from May 8th through 20th.

Free performances will feature distinctly New York genres including hip-hop, Latin, indie rock, contemporary dance, and global, and will also include a celebration of jazz at the annual Charlie Parker Jazz Festival. Artists, performance schedules, and free ticket reservation details will be announced at a later date.

A new video series within Arizona Opera’s Connection Lab program, LOUD!, which premiered on Thursday, January 28 at 6 PM MST, uses a digital magnifying glass to showcase the incredible diversity of arts and culture across the Southwest.

Today, baritone Will Liverman has released Dreams of a New Day: Songs by Black Composers with pianist Paul Sánchez on Cedille Records. Liverman says, “Right now, it is more important than ever to celebrate the contributions of Black composers, and I’m honored to give voice to the art songs on this album.'

Today American Lyric Theater has announced the Opera Writers Diversity and Representation Initiative as part of an ongoing commitment to mentoring the next generation of operatic writers. First steps include the appointment of conductor Kelly Kuo as ALT’s new Associate Artistic Director and the creation of a free, virtual Opera Writers Symposium.

Notables from President Bill Clinton and Whoopi Goldberg to musicians Wynton Marsalis and Sting joined together on Sunday, Jan 24th to “Save Birdland”.  During the fundraising concert the Broadway community was treated to “All That Jazz” starring the original Velmas of Chicago, Chita Rivera and Bebe Neuwirth.
