Performances for LITTLE ROCK Begin June 8 At The Sheen Center

Rebel Theatrical Management, LLC (Harvey Butler, producer), The Steward Family, in association withThe Sheen Center for Thought & Culture, present the New York premiere of the new play Little Rock, written and directed by Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj.  Due to technical issues, performances will now begin Friday, June 8, 2018 for a limited engagement through September 8, 2018 at The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture (18 Bleecker Street).

It was a swell family affair at Two River Theater last night as a searing and powerful production of Lorraine Hansberry's American classic A Raisin in the Sun, helmed by Carl Cofield and starring Brandon J. Dirden as Walter Lee Younger, his wife Crystal A. Dickinson as Ruth Younger, his father Willie Dirden as Bobo, Brenda Pressley as Lena Younger, Jasmine Batchelor as Beneatha Younger, Nat DeWolf as Karl Lindner, Charlie Hudson III as Joseph Asagai, Owen Tabaka as Travis Younger, York Walker as George Murchison, with Andrew Binger and David Joel Rivera as the Moving Men, celebrated opening night.

'Always Something Left to Love...' Meet the Full Company of A RAISIN IN THE SUN, Beginning Tomorrow on Broadway!

Previews begin tomorrow night, Saturday, March 8, for the return to Broadway of Tony Award-winner and two-time Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington, starring as Walter Lee Younger in Lorraine Hansberry's A RAISIN IN THE SUN. This new production begins previews nearly 55 years to the day that A RAISIN IN THE SUN had its Broadway premiere (March 11, 1959) at the same theatre, the Ethel Barrymore Theatre (243 West 47th Street). The cast of the Off-Broadway show HURT VILLAGE has been working on 'jookin' dancing: a form of dancing which originated in Memphis, where the show takes place. In the following video, the cast shows off their moves in an upbeat, energy-filled rehearsal.

Signature Theatre Adds Kenneth Lonergan’s MEDIEVAL PLAY to 2012 Lineup

Signature Theatre just announced that the company will produce the world premiere of Kenneth Lonergan's new play MEDIEVAL PLAY, which Lonergan will also direct. The production runs May 15 - June 24, 2012 with a June 7 opening night in The End Stage Theatre at the Company's new Frank Gehry-designed home The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Casting will be announced at a later date.

STAGE TUBE: Yale Rep's THE PIANO LESSON

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize in Drama, August Wilson's The Piano Lesson returns to Yale Rep, where it had its world premiere in 1987. The Piano Lesson was one of six plays in August Wilson's 10-play cycle chronicling the African American experience in the 20th century to premiere at Yale Rep. Wilson's other Yale Rep world premieres included Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (1984), Fences (1985), Joe Turner's Come and Gone (1986), Two Trains Running (1990), and Radio Golf (2005).
