BAAD's TransVisonaries Performance Series Kicks Off June 25

For 20 years, BAAD! The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance, has presented works that are empowering to women, people of color and LGBTQ people. The organization continues its newest program the TransVisionaries Performance Series, a first-ever, Bronx live performance series featuring transgender and GNC (gender non-conforming artists) in free, open to the public performances in South Bronx restaurants that are turned into one-night art centers. The series began in 2017 and ran through the summer of 2018.

Queer|Art, NYC's home for the creative and professional development of LGBTQ+ artists, is pleased to announce the new Mentors for the 2019-2020 program cycle of Queer|Art|Mentorship (QAM). Applications open May 12th.The Mentorship program is the cornerstone of Queer|Art's activity, providing a platform of support for LGBTQ+ artists focused on creative issues and long-term sustainability of artistic practice. Over the course of a year-long exchange, the program helps to forge new relationships between early-career and established LGBTQ+ artists and curators, bridging professional and social thresholds that often isolate artists by generation and discipline.

LOS NUTCRACKERS Comes to BAAD For 15th Anniversary Production

BAAD! The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance proudly presents Los Nutcrackers: A Christmas Carajo, written by Charles Rice-Gonzalez and directed by Fernando Vieira. This year marks the play's 15th anniversary and the first year that Vieira helms the work. The play interweaves two holiday classics, The Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol, and creates a queer, Latino play about a gay couple who go on a psychedelic trip through their lives one Christmas Eve. The playdates are November 30, December 1, 6, 7, 8, 14 and 15 at 8pm; Saturday, December 8 at 3pm at BAAD!, 2474 Westchester Avenue in the Westchester Square section of the Bronx. Queer|Art|Mentorship Announces 2018-2019 Mentors

Queer|Art|Mentorship was launched in 2011 to develop an intergenerational and interdisciplinary network of support and shared knowledge for LGBTQ artists. Now beginning its eighth year, the program brings together early-career and advanced-career artists for a year-long exchange across five different fields: Film, Literature, Performance, Visual Art, and Curatorial Practice.

Angela's Pulse will celebrate the fifth anniversary of its Dancing While Black initiative, May 3-5, 2018 at BAAD! Bronx Academy Of Arts and Dance. Dedicated to amplifying the voices and presence of Black dance artists, the three-day festival will host a variety of dance performances, post-performance conversations, short film screening and panel discussion.

Cast Announced for Daytime ShortWorks Operas at Wexford Festival Opera
