American Ballet Theatre's NY Summer Intensive Final Performances Scheduled for 7/25

Final performances for American Ballet Theatre's New York Summer Intensive Program are scheduled for Friday, July 25, 2014 at 12 P.M. and 4 P.M. at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Astoria, New York. The performances mark the conclusion of ABT's 19th annual New York Summer Intensive, a five-week training program for dancers ages 12 to 22.

Pace University Celebrates Frederic Franklin With FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH, Now thru 6/1

After collaborations in 2012 and 2013 with an all-male cast, Tina Croll and Jamie Cunningham's The Men Dancers: From the Horse's Mouth make their return to New York today, May 30 through June 1 in honor of ballet great Frederic Franklin (1914-2013) in what would have been his centenary year. This celebration will take place at the Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts (3 Spruce Street, between Park Row and Gold Street) and is presented by Pace University.

BWW Reviews: Ballet Academy East Delivers an Impressive Spring Performance

On Friday, May 16th, I was privileged to be in attendance of the opening night of Ballet Academy East's 2014 Spring Performance. These young dancers displayed good training and a delight to be performing in eight varied works. Having seen a number of school performances this year, the school shows itself to be a cut above.

BWW Review: New York Theatre Ballet's ANTONY TUDOR CELEBRATION

New York Theatre Ballet presented, by arrangement with The Estate of Antony Tudor and The Antony Tudor Trust, an A. Tudor Celebration. The night was a treasure trove of ballets by the great English choreographer Antony Tudor: three of his masterpieces from the 1930s, originally staged in London and an unearthed gem from 1952.

Ballet Academy East to Present 2014 Spring Performance, 5/16-18

Ballet Academy East presents the 2014 Spring Performance from May 16-18, 2014 at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater, 524 West 59th Street, NYC. Performances: Friday, May 16 at 7pm; Saturday, May 17 at 2pm and 7pm; and Sunday, May 18 at 2pm. The Saturday matinee will include crafts and photo opportunities with the dancers at intermission. Tickets are $60 for Center Orchestra and $40 for Side Orchestra and Balcony. Tickets will go on sale on April 1, 2014. Aaron Clifton Moten, Jonny Orsini, Phillipa Soo & Amber Iman Nominated for Clive Barnes Awards

Susan Stroman and Wendy Whelan are set to host the 2014 Clive Barnes Awards, which will be held on January 6 (3pm), at the Walter Reade Theatre. This years' nominees for theatre are Aaron Clifton Moten for his performance in The Flick, Jonny Orsini for his performance in The Nance, Phillipa Soo for her performance in Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812, and Amber Iman for her performance in Soul Doctor. This year's nominees for dance are Talli Jackson (Bill T. Jones/ Arnie Zane Dance Company), Lloyd Mayor (Martha Graham Dance Company), Xiaochuan Xie (Martha Graham Dance Company), and Calvin Royal III(American Ballet THeatre.)

Charles Askegard Joins Minnesota Dance Theatre as Associate Artistic Director

MDT welcomes Charles Askegard home to the Twin Cities in the position of Associate Artistic Director. Recently retired from a celebrated career with New York City Ballet, Mr. Askegard will bring the breadth of his experience to the organization where he began his dance training.
