The Bridge Project is a unique three-year series of co-productions by BAM, The Old Vic, and Neal Street, devoted to producing large-scale, classical theater for international audiences. The final season of The Bridge Project featuring Kevin Spacey, Artistic Director of The Old Vic, in the title role of Richard III, opened at The Old Vic in London on June 29, 2011 and began performances at BAM on January 10, 2012. The show officially opens on January 18, 2012. The Bridge Project is directed by Academy Award-winner Sam Mendes with whom Kevin Spacey worked on the award-winning film American Beauty. In a recent article in the Wall Street Journal, stage and screen star Kavin Spacey chatted about his most recent project- RICHARD III, which opened at London's Old Vic Theatre and will soon open at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Spacey told the WSJ: 'If there was one play that we really, really didn't want to f- up, this was it.'
In this latest revival of "Richard," now playing at San Francisco's Curran Theater, director Sam Mendes and Kevin Spacey do everything in their power to make sure that we do see. BAM has just announced its full 2012 line-up, according to the NY Times, which is set to include the previously reported RICHARD III led by Kevin Spacey. Also included in the winter/spring season are Jonathan Bates' BEING SHAKESPEARE, starring starring Simon Callow; Harold Pinter's THE CARETAKER, starring Jonathan Pryce; John Ford's TIS PITY SHE'S A WHORE; and Anton Chekhov's THREE SISTERS.
