Washington Concert Opera Sets 30th Anniversary Season

Washington Concert Opera is proud to announce its 2016-2017 lineup, which marks the organization's 30th anniversary. WCO begins its season with a special 30th Anniversary Concert on September 18th, followed by a performance of Massenet's Herodiade on on November 20th and ending on March 5th, 2017 with Beethoven's Leonore. All performances will start at 6pm and will take place at Lisner Auditorium on the campus of George Washington University.

Music Director Thierry Fischer leads the Utah Symphony in the New Year's Celebration concert today, January 2 at 7 PM in Abravanel Hall. Utah Symphony Performs Premiere of Nico Muhly's 'CONTROL' at 'Ode to Joy' Concert This Weekend

Maestro Thierry Fischer leads the Utah Symphony and the Utah Symphony Chorus during the 'Ode to Joy' concert this weekend, December 4-5 at 7:30 PM at Abravanel Hall. Utah Symphony will also perform the world premiere of American composer Nico Muhly's commission, 'Control (Five Landscapes for Orchestra),' and live record the performances for later commercial release in Spring 2016.

The Britt Classical Festival Pairs Contemporary and New Music with Core Classical Repertoire in 2015 Summer Season, 7/31-8/15

 The Britt Classical Festival, led by Music Director and Conductor Teddy Abrams, has announced a wide-ranging, adventurous series of concerts of contemporary and new music paired with core classical repertoire for its three-week 2015 season, beginning July 31. The programs include the world premiere of a folk song cycle written and performed by vocalist and songwriter Aoife O'Donovan and fiddler Jeremy Kittel alongside work by Charles Ives, George Antheil and Copland; performances of John Adams' Absolute Jest string quartet showcase with the Dover Quartet and Samuel Adams' recent work Radial Play; orchestral showpieces including Brahms' Symphony No. 2 and Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring; Teddy Abrams performing on piano and clarinet with his own Sixth Floor Trio, playing music from a variety of genres in a program alongside music by Samuel Barber and Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique; and composer Mason Bates on electronica in his popular work Mothership with the Britt Orchestra, on a program that features James Ehnes in Barber's Violin Concerto. The festival takes place in the Britt Pavilion, an intimate, beautiful outdoor 2,200-capacity amphitheater in the historic Gold Rush town of Jacksonville, Oregon, 17 miles from Ashland. This is Teddy Abrams' second season as the Britt Classical Festival's music director.

Also on the program is Shostakovich's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra performed by Veronika Eberle in her Utah Symphony debut. Performances run this weekend, May 22 - 23 at Abravanel Hall. Utah Symphony Announces Mighty 5 Open-Air Concert Tour, 8/11-17

The Utah Symphony led by Music Director Thierry Fischer will tour Utah's red rock country, home to the state's five iconic national parks, in August 2014 with free outdoor performances surrounded by the landscape of Capitol Reef, Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks. Presented by the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation, The Mighty 5® Tour represents a collaboration between two of Utah's great treasures, the state's leading arts organization, Utah Symphony | Utah Opera, and the unparalleled natural beauty of Utah's red rock country preserved within the five national parks, collectively known as "The Mighty 5."

EOS World Premiere, Andre Watts, Kazuki Yamada and More Set for Utah Symphony's 2014-15 Season

Utah Symphony Music Director Thierry Fischer and President & CEO Melia Tourangeau today announced the Utah Symphony's complete 2014-15 season. Maestro Fischer will lead the Symphony through 11 of the 18 Masterworks Series performances, which include more than 60 pieces with repertoire spanning 250 years, all performed in the Utah Symphony's Abravanel Hall.
