I remember seeing FOOTLOOSE in a theatre back in 1984, and I think I actually enjoyed it. I even have a cassette of the soundtrack somewhere, although I don't remember ever purchasing it. Still, it's the type of movie that can be easily tweaked for translation to the stage since the songs are already in place (for the most part), and the plot blends dance with romance. It is an undeniably infectious combination, especially for those of us who grew up with this music, for better or worse.

The reading is part of CAP 21's regular Monday night Classic Concert Series.

Although I was set to see The Little Mermaid shortly after its opening, an actor's absence due to illness resulted in the rescheduling of many press seats to later dates, which is why I'm posting this a good two and a half weeks after the big night. Live theatre, kiddies.

The Broadway Boys presented 'BROADWAY SINGS FOR TOYS!' a benefit for Toys For Tots. This year was the 4th installment of this special holiday concert/celebration. The benefit took take place December 14th at 9PM at The Zipper Factory, 336 W. 37th Street.

Tituss Burgess, currently starring as Sebastian in Disney's The Little Mermaid, performed a solo concert at The Metropolitan Room on Monday, April 7 at 9:30PM. Burgess offered tunes from Duke Ellington to Jason Robert Brown as well as songs off of his solo album, 'Here's To You,' which is available now on iTunes and Cdbaby.

The new Broadway production of Disney's The Little Mermaid will resume performances tonight, Thursday, November 29. Prior to the canceled performances due to the recent labor dispute, the show played five sold out previews at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street). The previously scheduled opening night of December 6 has been cancelled and The Little Mermaid will now have its official press opening on Thursday, January 10 at 8PM.
As a result of the current labor dispute, the new Broadway production of Disney's The Little Mermaid has postponed its previously announced Opening Night performance.
Disney Theatrical Productions proudly presents the theatrical stage production of The Little Mermaid, began previews at Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on November 3, for an official opening December 6, 2007.
