Harlem Quartet with Pianist Aldo López-Gavilán Perform Jazz at WSU's Schaver Recital Hall This October

The Grammy Award-winning Harlem Quartet teams up with Cuban piano virtuoso and composer Aldo Lopez-Gavilan Today, October 21, 8 PM for a program of jazz standards plus original jazz compositions by Aldo Lopez-Gavilan.  The concert takes place at Wayne State University's Schaver Music Recital Hall, located at 480 W. Hancock (between Cass & Second Avenues) on the campus of Wayne State University.  Tickets, priced at $30 for adults and $15 for students, are available online atwww.CMSDetroit.org or by phone at 248-855-6070.

NJSO Welcomes New Musicians and Artistic Staff

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra has welcomed new musicians and artistic staff to the Orchestra. In the 2016-17 season, David Southorn joins the Orchestra as Assistant Concertmaster; NJSO first violinist Adriana Rosin has also been named Assistant Concertmaster.

Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival Kicks Off 7/31

'The flutist Marya Martin's festival brings an elite roster of chamber musicians to the ever-desirable vacation spot,' said The New Yorker of last year's Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival. This summer, the 33rd season of Long Island's longest-running classical music festival comprises 14 concerts from July 31 to August 28, featuring the signature mix of renowned and up-and-coming artists and classic and new music that has made it one of the most noteworthy summer music festivals in the country.

New York Philharmonic Announces New Albums, Series of Digital Recordings

The New York Philharmonic announces a new album of works by Christopher Rouse, the Philharmonic's second Marie-Jose?e Kravis Composer-in-Residence, and the launch of Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic: 2015-16 Season digital recording series - which will feature ten albums of performances from the current season - for download and streaming.

Alan Gilbert to Lead World Premiere by Frank Krawczyk at David Geffen Hall, 4/27-30

Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct the New York Philharmonic in the World Premiere of Franck Krawczyk's Apre?s, a Philharmonic commission resulting from The Marie-Jose?e Kravis Prize for New Music; Schumann's Cello Concerto, with Principal Cello Carter Brey as soloist; and Brahms's Symphony No. 2, Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, April 29 at 2:00 p.m.; and Saturday, April 30 at 8:00 p.m.

New York Philharmonic to Present MESSIAEN WEEK This March

The New York Philharmonic will present Messiaen Week, March 7-13, 2016, honoring the legacy of French composer and organist Olivier Messiaen (1908-92) through performances of his works, from the symphonic to solo works, as well as music by those whom he influenced.

Alan Gilbert to Lead NY Phil with Soloists Eric Owens & Heidi Melton in January

Bass-baritone Eric Owens will continue his tenure as The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in- Residence with performances, led by Music Director Alan Gilbert, of Richard Strauss songs - "Ruhe, meine Seele," Op. 27, No. 1; "Ca?cilie," Op. 27, No. 2; "Pilgers Morgenlied," Op. 33, No. 4 - and the Final Scene from Act III of Die Walku?re, alongside soprano Heidi Melton in her Philharmonic debut. The program also includes Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries and Sibelius's En saga, one of several programs this season honoring the 150th anniversary of Sibelius's birth. The performances take place Thursday, January 7, 2016, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, January 8 at 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, January 9 at 8:00 p.m.; and Tuesday, January 12 at 7:30 p.m.

RACHMANINOFF: A PHILHARMONIC FESTIVAL, Featuring Daniil Trifonov, Begins Tonight

The New York Philharmonic will present Rachmaninoff: A Philharmonic Festival, tonight, November 10-28, 2015, featuring 24-year-old Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov performing three of the composer's piano concertos and the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini over the course of three consecutive all-Rachmaninoff programs, each led by a different conductor: Cristian Macelaru (in his Philharmonic debut), Neeme Jarvi, and Ludovic Morlot.

New York Philharmonic Sets 2015-16 Season of New-Music Series CONTACT!

Entering its seventh season in 2015-16, CONTACT!, the Philharmonic's new-music series, will extend its reach across New York City through a new partnership with National Sawdust (formerly Original Music Workshop), a new, non-profit, state-of-the-art music venue opening in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, in October 2015.

The HARLEM QUARTET, praised for its 'panache' by The New York Times, is 'bringing a new attitude to classical music, one that is fresh, bracing and intelligent,' says the Cincinnati Enquirer. This unique Salon experience will be found on the VPAC stage tonight, November 5, as the ensemble invites 200 audience members to join them onstage for a rare, intimate performance of their classical and jazz program.

Jaap van Zweden Leads New York Philharmonic in Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 This Weekend

Jaap van Zweden will return to the New York Philharmonic to conduct Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23, with Artist-in-Association Inon Barnatan as soloist; Britten's Sinfonia da Requiem; and Beethoven's Symphony No. 5. The performances take place tonight, October 29, 2015, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, October 30 at 2:00 p.m.; and Saturday, October 31 at 8:00 p.m.
