Gerardo Núñez, Antonio Rey, Álvaro Martinete, and Olga Pericet will perform at The Town Hall in a tribute to flamenco legend Sabicas. The concert marks the closing night of Flamenco Festival New York’s 25th anniversary. Tickets are now available.

The World Music Institute and Flamenco Festival New York will conclude their 25th anniversary with a tribute to Sabicas, featuring performances by Gerardo Núñez, Antonio Rey, Álvaro Martinete, and Olga Pericet at the historic venue where Sabicas transformed flamenco guitar.

The 25th anniversary celebration of Flamenco Festival New York will feature programming that evokes this endless love affair between the city of skyscrapers and flamenco.

Durante el coloquio 80 años del exilio español: influencias y aportaciones a la vida musical de México, realizado en el Conservatorio Nacional de Música del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (INBAL), se destacó el trabajo de las compositoras Emiliana de Zubeldía y María Teresa Prieto, quienes crearon en México sus obras más importantes, así como el trabajo historiográfico del musicólogo Otto Mayer-Serra y la aportación de los artistas flamencos.

Para recordar las ocho décadas del exilio español en México, el Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (INBAL), a través del Centro Nacional de Investigación, Documentación e Información Musical Carlos Chávez (Cenidim), llevará a cabo la jornada 80 años del exilio español: influencias y aportaciones a la vida musical de México, el jueves 24 de octubre a partir de las 11:00 horas en la Sala 4 Agustín Caballero del Conservatorio Nacional de Música.

Durante cuatro décadas ha dejado su alma en los escenarios; ha sido una apasionada y entregada bailarina que ha ganado con creces el reconocimiento del público y es considerada una figura clave en la historia del flamenco en México. Hoy todo ese ímpetu que ha cobijado la trayectoria de la maestra Mercedes Amaya, La Winy es plasmado en el espectáculo Con el alma que se presentará el sábado 17 de agosto, a las 19:00 horas, en el Palacio de Bellas Artes.

International Flamenco sensation, Olga Pericet, was awarded today with the National Dance Award for 2018 in Spain. This award represents the highest recognition in dance for her versatility and projection on stage.

White Bird presents one of Spain's most acclaimed new flamenco companies, Compañia Jesus Carmona, which will make its Portland debut at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall on Wednesday, March 14. Dance prodigy and pioneer in flamenco's evolution, Jesus Carmona has shared the stage with Spain's most legendary flamenco artists. For the Portland premiere, Jesus Carmona and his company of 10 dancers, musicians, and vocalists perform his emotionally charged, vibrant program Ímpetu's ("bursting with energy").

Each evening will also feature a special opening performance: On September 16, Saskatoon's celebrated ¡ARTE! Flamenco will share the evocative De Cal, Canto y Arena; On September 17, Vancouver's own Flamenco Rosario will start the night with their playful Flamenqueando. Tickets will go on sale August 13.

One of the greatest things about the Kennedy Center is its long history of exposing Washington, DC audiences to a healthy selection of international theatre, music, and dance artists. A major facet of this programming is an annual international arts festival, which, this year, is focused on the Iberian Peninsula and, by extension, other countries that have been heavily influenced by Spain and/or Portugal. Particularly exciting is the Washington, DC premiere of Ballet Flamenco Sara Baras' VOCES, SUITE FLAMENCA.
