Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in Downtown Pittsfield, MA, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, has announced casting for the company's 20th Anniversary Season opener - Kiss Me, Kate, to be presented June 11 through July 12 on the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage (30 Union Street).

The John W. Engeman Theater's production of The Music Man, running March 27 - May 18, tells the story of fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill and his plans to con the people of River City, Iowa. He sells them instruments and promises to train the townspeople to be a professional band. Hill, who doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef, plans to skip town with the money without giving any music lessions at all - until he falls in love with Marian the librarian. The beloved classic musical Meredith Wilson's THE MUSIC MAN, will begin previews at the John W. Engeman Theater tonight, March 27 at 8:00 p.m. with the official opening on Saturday, March 29 at 8:00 p.m. and running through May 18, 2014.

ELF, a holiday themed musical, first opened on Broadway in 2010. With the 2003 motion picture of the same title starring Will Ferrell as source material, theatergoers all over were interested in the sugarcoated musical. Negative reviews lead to a re-tooling of the show, and it returned to Broadway in 2012 in addition to having a mini tour of the US. Now, in 2013, Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) is bringing the confection to Houston audiences with a locally produced production of the saccharine holiday confection that is rather donuts for dinner.

Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) presents Elf The Musical, running tonight, Dec. 6 - 22 at Hobby Center's Sarofim Hall. Making his TUTS debut as the loveable 'elf' Buddy is Tommy J. Dose. He played Alfred Doolittle in the national tour of My Fair Lady and has circulated the regional theatre scene with companies including the Fulton Theatre, the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra, and the Cumberland County Playhouse. Final performances for American Ballet Theatre's New York Summer Intensive Program are scheduled for today, July 26, 2013 at 12 P.M. and 4 P.M. at Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Astoria, New York. The performances mark the conclusion of ABT's 18th annual New York Summer Intensive, a five-week training program for dancers ages 12 to 22.

It was a pleasure to experience the fusion of Lydia Johnson's invigorating choreography with the precision and passion of Carlos Lopez. The entire performance evoked a variety of emotions ranging from devout love to high anticipation to true sorrow. Not only was the chemistry between Carlos Lopez and Lydia Johnson undeniable, the chemistry between Lopez and the whole cast could only be described at breathtaking. While I'm sure that the Lopez's dedication and artistry were certainly inspiring to the entire cast and crew, I cannot help but assume that the other dancers returned just as much insight and perspective. The program consisted of four total pieces, two of which were premiering.
