Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, one of the world's most popular dance companies, will return to Birmingham Hippodrome for the first time in six years and present two exhilarating programmes on 23 & 24 September during its autumn tour 2016.

Following critical acclaim at the Savoy Theatre, the Chichester Festival Theatre revival of Guys and Dolls transfers to the Phoenix Theatre whilst simultaneously touring the UK this spring. The West End production opened 19 March and is booking until 30 October, whilst the UK tour is running simultaneously, opening in Liverpool on 16 March and touring throughout the UK until 30 July, closing in Woking. Guys and Dolls has a long musical history. Originating and premiering on Broadway in 1950 and winning the Tony Award for Best Musical the following year, the show was soon turned into a film starring Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra, which it is most fondly recognised for. There have been a multitude of successful revivals over the years and this one is currently enjoying a couple of pre-West End engagements before it opens at the Savoy Theatre for a limited run, starting next month.

At a special reception at the House of Lords today 17 November 2015, kindly hosted by the Bishop of Birmingham The Right Reverend David Urquhart (in his capacity as a Trustee of Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre Trust), DanceXchange and Birmingham Hippodrome officially launched International Dance Festival Birmingham 2016.
