Aurora's Paramount Theatre, home to more than 33,000 subscribers for its Broadway Musical Series, continues its growth as one of the nation's preeminent regional theater powerhouses with today's announcement of four must-see, blockbuster musicals slated for its 2017-18 season: Million Dollar Quartet, Elf: The Musical, Cabaret and Once.

I've seen MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET several times, and I've always enjoyed the experience, even though it's a heavily fictionalized version of the day four music icons gathered in the studio that started their careers. If you've ever heard the original recordings that were made you know that Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash gathered around the piano (which Elvis played) and sang familiar gospel tunes. But, Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux (both contributed to the book, which came from Mutrux's original concept) use the reunion as a way to tell the story of Sun studios, and in particular, Sam Phillips, while generously sprinkling in some great music and a number of actual facts along the way. The result is a show that gives you what you really wanted; the opportunity to see these cats rock out together. The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis closes their 50th anniversary season with an amazing production of this jukebox musical. I've honestly never heard it sound as good as it does here, and some of the arrangements seem to have been tweaked a bit too. Truly a fabulous way to close a monumentally fine season.

Directed by Tony® Award nominee Hunter Foster and with music direction by James Barry, the 8-member ensemble will feature James Barry as Carl Perkins, Alex Boniello as Elvis Presley, Jason Loughlin as Sam Phillips, Scott Moreau as Johnny Cash, David Sonneborn as Fluke, Bligh Voth as Dyanne, Sam Weber as Brother Jay, and Nat Zegree as Jerry Lee Lewis. 

Confederation Centre has revealed three of the leads for this summer's mega-concert musical, Million Dollar Quartet. The Charlottetown Festival is introducing talented Centre newcomers, Greg Gale as Johnny Cash and Matthew Lawrence as Elvis Presley.

Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), North Fulton's only professional theatre company, will finish up its 24thseason with Million Dollar Quartet, the smash-hit Tony Award-winning musical inspired by the famed recording session that brought together rock 'n' roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time. Based on a true event, the production runs April 6th through 23rd, 2017 at the theatre's home in the Roswell Cultural Arts Center. Berkshire Theatre Group announces the final production of its upcoming 2017 Summer Season will be Mark Medoff's Tony, Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk Award-winning play, Children of a Lesser God, which will begin performances on Thursday, June 22 at The Fitzpatrick Main Stage. Opening night is set for Saturday, June 24 at 8pm.

The Ridgefield Playhouse and Pepsi Rock Series Powered by xfinity are going to rock your world with musical legend Paul Shaffer and the Most Dangerous Band on Saturday, May 6 at 8 p.m.  Paul Shaffer may be best known as David Letterman's musical director and sidekick for the past 33 years, but his illustrious career goes far beyond the Ed Sullivan Theater.  Paul began his career working with Stephen Schwartz in 1972 as musical director for the Toronto production of "Godspell." From there he went on to spend 5 years with the original cast of "SaturdayNight Live" where he was the band leader and performer - most notably for his parody of Don Kirschner.  Shaffer occasionally teamed up with the "Not Ready for Prime-Time Players" off the show as well, including work on Gilda Radner's highly successful Broadway show and as the musical director for John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd whenever they recorded or performed as The Blues Brothers. In 1984, Shaffer played keyboards for The Honeydrippers, a group formed in 1981 by former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant, and performed on the hit single "Sea of Love" which reached #1.
