A new musical with plenty of echoes of a very famous one indeed, with strong singing and jaw-dropping puppetry but undermined by a tone that is nether one thing not the other.

The critically acclaimed production of The Grinning Man, directed by Tony award-winning Tom Morris (War Horse) and based on the classic Victor Hugo (Les Mis rables) novel, The Man Who Laughs, has taken over Studio 1 at Trafalgar Studios from 6 December, following a hugely successful autumn 2016 premiere at Bristol Old Vic. Hot on the heels of last week's celebrity recordings announcement, more stars have jumped on board to perform their own versions of songs from the West End's newest British musical, The Grinning Man. Matt Lucas, Kelsey Grammer and Hannah Waddingham have now joined Harry Enfield, Alexander Armstrong and Louise Dearman in a star-studded line-up of celebrities releasing unique versions of their favourite tracks from The Grinning Man.

Based on the 1959 novel Die Blechtrommel by G nter Grass, Kneehigh's production tells the story of Oskar, a boy born into the world already weary with the state of humanity. We see everything through his narration, from his mother's childhood to the war-torn place he lives in.

Renowned world-wide for exceptional story-telling, Cornish based Kneehigh has launched, Walk With Me, an immersive story walking app, constructed around GPS triggered audio narratives, which takes listeners to the very heart of Cornwall. The official launch will take place on Sunday 16 July from 2 to 5pm at Newquay Rowing Club with writer Anna Maria Murphy and Kneehigh company members sharing the stories gathered from local people.
