Gabrielle's Angel Foundation for Cancer Research hosted its signature fundraiser, the Angel Ball, on Tuesday, October 29th at Cipriani Wall Street. The black-tie benefit, hosted by Grammy-nominated song writer Denise Rich featured a cocktail reception, dinner, live musical performances, a paddle raise and both live and online auctions raising nearly $3 million for the Foundation's research initiatives. This year's gala honored three individuals for their outstanding philanthropic contributions to cancer research. Supermodel Karolina Kurkova presented Simon de Pury, Chairman, de Pury de Pury with an award for his dedication to raising much needed funds for cancer research. Hugh Jackman along with his wife Deborra-lee Furness honored Deborra-lee's mother, Fay Duncan, President of the Fight Cancer Foundation in Australia and Ethan Zohn took the stage to talk about how research and the work of Clay B. The White Cashmere Collection 10th Anniversary fashion show took place last week, featuring a stunning vision of a future without breast cancer. The show featured a cast of 20 new and returning designers featuring their creations - made entirely out of 100 per cent pure, soft Cashmere Bathroom Tissue. The show is celebrating it's tenth year, and the foundation works tirelessly to help raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. Children's picture books depicting gay characters have become the most banned books in America. Even so, they have made a mark over the last two decades. Each book moving the genre forward, but never stating or even using the word 'gay' (except once). This avoidance can only continue to teach children that homosexuality is wrong and should be hidden and talked about in hushed tones. George the Gay Lion unashamedly uses the word gay in every way, as the book takes the readers through a coming out story, a search for like-minded individuals, the formation of a new family and the ultimate acceptance of a gay lion. It is the next step in empowering the word gay.

The Toronto International Film Festival has announced its Contemporary World Cinema lineup today, featuring films produced by countries from around the world.
