Miranda N. Prather Announces Books Signing at Secretariat Festival
by Christina Mancuso
- Sep 21, 2016
Miranda N. Prather, author of Blue Blue Sea Finds His Cape, attended a book signing at The Secretariat Festival 2016 in Paris, Kentucky, on September 17, 2016. Prather took part in the event's Craft Fair, greeting fans of the popular gelding and signing books. During the event, Prather met many fans, chief among them were those who had followed Blue Blue Sea's life on Facebook, a young woman who worked at Elm Tree Farm, where Blue Blue Sea was born, and the author of the book Lucky Debonair Champion Thoroughbred of Danada Farm Eileen C. White.
Blue Blue Sea Finds His Cape, published by Shoofly View, tells the life story of a blue-collar racehorse who overcame a devastating illness to survive and inspire thousands around the globe who were facing their own struggles. The Secretariat Festival was a homecoming of sorts for Team Blue Blue Sea, as the blue-collar racehorse was born in Paris, Kentucky, not France, as recounted in the book. The book features playful writing and delightful pictures, by Kentucky artist Hayley Mullins, that bring the tale of Blue Blue Sea to life. Blue Blue Sea was no American Pharoah, but he became a hero just the same. To learn more and follow Blue Blue Sea's world visit: https://www.facebook.com/BlueBlueSeaOTTB.
Miranda N. Prather was born in Texas and grew up in Mississippi, Louisiana and Kentucky. The first horse she recalls following was Seattle Slew, who was born the same year she was, but it was Alydar that was her first horse racing love (and Blue Blue Sea's great-grandsire). During her time in Kentucky, she took horseback riding lessons and owned an off-track Thoroughbred named Beble.
Hayley Mullins, from Erlanger, Kentucky, is a freshman at Lipscomb University. She is a self-taught artist, who is gaining a following due to her natural talent for catching a subject in whimsical ways. The illustrator studies Visual Development and Animation.
Shoofly View seeks to give authors honest feedback, and if an author presents a well-written, interesting book, the chance at publication. In late 2015, they published Blue Blue Sea Finds His Cape, their first book. They are currently looking at other book projects and plan an online journal to highlight the best in writing, art and photography.

Directed with confidence by a young director - Matthew Hayes Hunter, who was a 2013 First Night Most Promising Actor - and performed by an eager and energetic cast (led by a quartet of extraordinary actresses portraying the four Dreams and another First Night MPA [who very nearly steals the entire production right out from under everyone else onstage] in the role of James 'Thunder' Early - CFTA's Dreamgirls delights its audience from the beginning, engaging them with focused performances that come from the heart to inspire and entertain.
