Finishing STAGE DOOR PLAYERS' 43rd Season with a bang, SDP presents the HIS and HERS Cabaret for ONE NIGHT ONLY!

Synchronicity Theatre will open its 20th season with Kate Hamill's playful new adaptation of Jane Austen's beloved novel, Sense and Sensibility. The story follows the fortunes (and misfortunes) of the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne, after their father's sudden death leaves them financially destitute and socially vulnerable. Wrapping up the wildly successful 42nd Season of Dunwoody's very own professional theatre, STAGE DOOR PLAYERS produces the musical comedy, "show within a show", Kiss Me, Kate, music and lyrics by Cole Porter, book by Sam and Bella Spewack. Alan Kilpatrick directs, Nick Silvestri is the music director, and Jen MacQueen choreographs. The show opens on Friday, July 15, and runs through Sunday, August 7. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8pm (except, no performance on Thursday, July 21), and Sundays at 2:30pm. The Suzi Bass Awards, Inc. revealed nominations for the 2013-2014 Atlanta professional theatrical season this evening to theatre patrons and industry artists. The Suzi Nomination Party, which rotates venues, was hosted this year by Actor's Express in the King Plow Arts Center of Atlanta. Guest announcers included performers Christy Baggett, Laura Cole, Danielle Deadwyler, and Tess Malis Kincaid.

The theatre-going experience at Serenbe Playhouse is as exciting as anything I've ever seen. It's not the excitement manufactured by the tricks and effects of modern theatricality (not that I don't love those as well), but this is the type of excitement that you feel in your bones. The type of excitement that makes you forget that you are an adult watching other adults pretend. This is the type of excitement that makes you fall in love with live theatre.

Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), North Fulton's only professional theatre company, will end its twenty-first season with the musical blockbuster that is Camelot, with book and lyrics by Alan J. Lerner, and music by Frederick Loewe. Georgia Ensemble Theatre audiences will be treated to this story and fabulous music by an extremely gifted ensemble of outstanding Atlanta artists. This long-loved show is now poised to touch in new ways a generation that was around when it opened on Broadway in the early 60s, and an entirely new generation as well. GET Artistic Director Robert F. Farley directs this production. Camelot runs tonight, April 10-27, 2014, at the Theatre's home, the Roswell Cultural Arts Center, 950 Forrest Street, Roswell, GA.
