Chautauqua's 2018 Summer Concert Series Announced

Continuing the 120-year-old tradition of bringing music, oration and the arts to the Boulder community, the Colorado Chautauqua Association, steward of Boulder's cultural and historical gem the Colorado Chautauqua National Historic Landmark, is pleased to announce its 2018 Summer Concert Series. From Amos Lee and Andrew Bird, to Graham Nash, Ziggy Marley and Mary Chapin Carpenter, this year's lineup presents a diverse mix of performers across genres that appeal to every music fan. Laughter also returns to the stage with comedian Paula Poundstone and Boulder's own poet and activist Andrea Gibson.

Outdoor summer entertainment venue Music by the Lake, presented by George Williams College of Aurora University, announces its 18th annual season presenting artist debuts and a range of musical genres and shows, including orchestral music, contemporary and nostalgic pop/rock, country and family programming. The summer series, which includes weekend events from June 24 through August 11, features events for all ages to enjoy.

For Cover Story, LOVE CANON has decided to take many of the suggestions that they get at their high energy live shows and will feature ten new-to-them 80's hits and a plethora of special guests. Cover Story is a follow up to their previous efforts, Greatest Hits Volumes 1-3.
New World Symphony Celebrates 30 Years In Annual New Work Event

Now celebrating its 30th anniversary, the New World Symphony, America's Orchestral Academy (NWS), presents its seventh annual New Work performance on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at the New World Center. New Work is dedicated to commissioning and premiering new pieces from high-profile and developing artists across a range of genres, exploring intersections between music, theater, dance, poetry, video, lighting, and other art forms. This year's program opens with a world premiere, multidisciplinary performance of selections from Glimpse of the Big Picture, conceived, scored, and authored by NWS Artistic Director/Co-Founder Michael Tilson Thomas (MTT). Divided into three parts, the performance brings music together with the spoken word, featuring MTT as speaker. The 2018 New Work program also includes two NWS commissions: composer Ted Hearne and filmmaker Jonathan David Kane's 2017 crowdsourced, multimedia symphony, Miami in Movements, in a revised version; and the world premiere of The Inherent Sadness of Low-Lying Areas, a short play by playwright Christopher Wall featuring music by a variety of composers, from Bach to Saariaho.

The album leads with a vibrant Latin-Tropical-Soul cover of Earth Wind and Fire's international mega-hit Fantasy , sung by Nuyorican vocalist, Chris Alfinez, who has toured with Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez and La India. The video and single were released in late 2016, a few days prior to the passing of the dynamic founder of the legendary funk band, Maurice White who penned the original hit over a three-month period, thus making 3D Rhythm of Life the first artist to present an official tribute.

November programming has been announced at City Winery Chicago. Highlights of the month include multi-night runs from Jazz vocalist (and Chicago transplant) Lizz Wright (Nov. 1-2), Herb Alpert of Tijuana Brass with his wife, Grammy-winning singer Lani Hall, (Nov. 6-7), and four shows over two days with saxophonist Kurt Elling (Nov. 25-26) plus a benefit for Merit School of Music with Nico Segal (previously known as Donnie Trumpet from the Chance the Rapper-affiliated band, The Social Experiment) and The JuJu Exchange (Nov. 28) and much more.
