Broadway Goes 'Urban' For Urban Stages' Outreach Benefit, 12/13; Features Kitt, Sheik & More

For one festive night only, Sunday, December 13 at 9:30pm, Broadway will come to Urban Stages to ring in the season with special arrangements of your favorite holiday tunes. The starry lineup of performers lending their talents to benefit Urban Stages' Outreach Program include Adam Chanler-Berat (Next to Normal), Jenn Colella (High Fidelity), Lilli Cooper (Spring Awakening), Jerry Dixon (Once on this Island), Matt Doyle (Bye Bye Birdie), Emma Hunton (Spring Awakening), Morgan Karr (Spring Awakening), Kacie Sheik (Hair) and Tony Winner Tom Kitt (Next to Normal).

THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA Comes to Philadelphia Theatre Co. 11/13 - 12/6

The romance of Florence comes to life on stage as Philadelphia Theatre Company continues its 2009-2010 season with the hit Broadway musical The Light in the Piazza with book by Craig Lucas and music and lyrics by Adam Guettel on November 13 - December 6. Directed by Joe Calarco, the ensemble cast features Whitney Bashor, Sherri Edelen, Joe Guzman, Ken Krugman, Kyra Miller, Fran Prisco, Matthew Scott, and Maureen Torsney-Weir.

Philadelphia Theatre Company Presents Free Reading of Gibbons' SILVERHILL 10/19

Philadelphia Theatre Company, the city's premier producer of new American theatre, reaffirms its commitment to supporting new plays by American playwrights with its STAGES series, a new play reading series, beginning Monday, October 19 at 7PM at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (Broad and Lombard Streets) during the run of its current production, Humor Abuse starring Lorenzo Pisoni. The opening program will be a reading of Silverhill by Philadelphia playwright Thomas Gibbons, directed by Richard Corley, who has directed PTC's mainstage productions of Broken Glass by Arthur Miller, A Question of Mercy by David Rabe, The Woods by David Mamet, and Sight Unseen by Donald Margulies.

Act II Playhouse Opens 11th Season With BOEING-BOEING 9/22-10/18

Broadway comes to Ambler, as Act II Playhouse opens its 11th season in September with the Tony Award-winning hit play Boeing-Boeing. Act II Associate Artistic Director Harriet Power directs the post-Broadway world premiere of the smash-hit revival of Marc Camoletti's 1960s effervescent farce.

Presented by the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia, the black-tie ceremony, directed by Karen DiLossi, celebrated the work of local theatre artists as well as the vibrancy of the region's theatrical offerings with 26 awards.
