Miami City Ballet's 25th Anniversary Season Continues

MIAMI CITY BALLET continues its 25th Anniversary Season in South Florida with Program III and the Company Premiere of Paul Taylor's powerful Promethean Fire. Program III also features these audience favorites: George Balanchine's enthralling Scotch Symphony and Twyla Tharp's popular Nine Sinatra Songs. The Opus One Orchestra will play, under the baton of maestro Gary Sheldon, 42 to 56 musicians strong, supported by a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, as part of its Knight Arts Challenge.

'Cirque Dreams Broadway' Auditions At Broward Center February 12th

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts is holding auditions for singers to perform alongside world-class Cirque Dreams athletes, performance artists and Broadway's biggest stars in the March 24 world premiere of Cirque Dreams Broadway directed by Neil Goldberg. Auditions will be held on Saturday, February 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Abdo New River Room at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.

Kander & Ebb's Legendary Musical 'Cabaret' At Boca Raton Theatre Guild

The Boca Raton Theatre Guild will continue its extremely successful season with John Kander and Fred Ebb's classic musical, Cabaret. The Guild's recent production of Neil Simon's Broadway Bound consistently filled the Willow Theatre at Sugar Sand Park to capacity throughout its run. Cabaret will run from February 25th through March 13th.

Legendary Musical 'West Side Story' Comes To South Florida

The tour of the current smash hit Broadway production of WEST SIDE STORY is coming to Fort Lauderdale. WEST SIDE STORY will open at Broward Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday February 15 for a two-week run through Sunday, February 27. Tony Award-winning librettist Arthur Laurents' Broadway direction has been recreated for the tour by David Saint, the Associate Director on Broadway. The original Jerome Robbins choreography is reproduced by Tony Award nominee Joey McKneely (The Boy from Oz, The Life).

Florida Grand Opera Continues Season With 'The Tales Of Hoffmann'

Offenbach's reputation was firmly established by his hugely successful comic operas, but with The Tales of Hoffmann, the composer of the famous 'Can-Can' from Orpheus in the Underworld was determined to achieve recognition as a composer of serious opera as well. Based on several short stories by the writer E.T.A. Hoffmann, The Tales of Hoffmann would soon become a favorite vehicle for many of the world's leading opera singers who relished the opportunity to exploit its limitless dramatic opportunities. Canadian tenor David Pomeroy, who made his 2009 Metropolitan Opera debut in the title role of its new production of The Tales of Hoffmann, will make his FGO debut in the same role.

Toronto Symphony Orchestra In Six City Florida Tour

The Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Peter Oundjian will travel to Florida in January 2011 to perform a week-long series of concerts in six cities including Naples (January 9), Sarasota (January 10), Fort Lauderdale (January 11), West Palm Beach (January 12), Orlando (January 14) and Daytona Beach (January 15). The Florida tour will be the TSO's third visit to the state in the orchestra's history, and its first visit since 1999. Native Canadian and now-resident of Bradenton Florida, violinist James Ehnes will join the orchestra to perform Barber's Violin Concerto. The orchestra will also perform Torque, a 2009 TSO commission by Gary Kulesha (Lead of the TSO Composer Advisory Group), and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5. Mr. Kulesha will join the orchestra on tour and give pre-concert talks in select cities.

Gavin Creel Florida Masterclasses And Concerts

Gavin Creel is a two-time Tony Award nominee for his performances in HAIR and THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE. He also performed in the 2004 Broadway revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES and has performed on London's West End in MARY POPPINS and HAIR.

'Wicked' Broadway Blockbuster To Cast Spell On Broward Center

With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pippin, Academy Award-winner for Pocahontas and The Prince of Egypt) and book by Winnie Holzman ('My So Called Life,' 'Once And Again' and 'thirtysomething'), WICKED, the untold story of the witches of Oz, is directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello (Take Me Out, Love!
