The 13-date trek is part of the band's perpetual tour cycle and launches with a pair of rare Oklahoma shows (6/3 Tulsa + 6/4 OKC) and their long overdue, first headline at the legendary Stubb's Waller Creek Amphitheater, Austin, Texas (6/5). '... About 26 years ago, I was in New York playing a gig at Nel's on 14thStreet. Late night, the 5 Train would stop running and you would have to catch a shuttle from 180thStreet, which ran really infrequently, so I decided to catch the 4 Train uptown to Gun Hill Road and walked down to the corner of Bainbridge and Gun Hill to catch the BX 28 (which used to be the BX 15). So here it was, about 3:00 in the morning and I'm standing across the street from Montefiore Hospital, watching a Black squirrel dart in and out of the sparse shrubs next to the building, when suddenly, an old man popped out from behind the parking garage, just behind the bus shelter where I was standing. The man was about 5'5', wearing slacks, a collared shirt, fall coat and a Totes hat. In his left hand, he carried two shopping bags stuffed with collard greens. There was something in the way he walked... a rather slew-footed stride, that told me he was from the islands.'
Middle-grade graphic novels are a booming genre, and I haven't read nearly enough of them. SANITY AND TALLULAH by Molly Brooks is one that all teachers and librarians should pick up for the classroom, and one that all parents should buy for their kids. It is a great STEM book, and about two best friends. This is a book that will appeal to both genders and is full of fun and adventure. Also, there's a three-headed cat on the loose!

The finest moments of the evening for me were Arthur's speeches, notably his telling of the story of removing Excalibur from the stone and his soliloquy at the end of Act I when he tries to find how to deal with the two greatest loves of his life betraying him, as a man and as the king. Grant's handling of those speeches were a master class!
If you like your coming-of-age-on-the-mean-streets stories served with an extra side of red sauce, then Chazz Palminteri's semi-autobiographical A BRONX TALE is for you. Featuring characters with names like Rudy the Voice, Eddie Mush, Jojo the Whale and Frankie Coffeecake, this musical adaptation of Palminteri's acclaimed movie, later made into a one-man Broadway play in which Palminteri also starred, pits the young Calogero (Trey Murphy) in a tug of war between his upstanding blue collar Dad, Lorenzo (American Idol winner Nick Fradiani), and the flashy mob boss Sonny (Jeff Brooks) whom the newly dubbed a?oeCa?? idolizes.
In all a dozen numbers that kept the laughs coming and had the audience doubled over slapping their knees and tables and winding up in total hilarious agreements about that man falling into the sewer and DYING! Mel Brooks himself would have been proud hearing his songs being given such treatment by gifted Broadway vets and up-and-comers and the night made for a Monday that ended with a BANG and for that BANG Bobby gives 54 CELEBRATES MEL BROOKS! A solid 4 out of 5 rainbows. He was twice nominated for an Academy Award, for Best Adapted Screenplay for The Graduate (1967) and for Best Director for Heaven Can Wait (1978) alongside Warren Beatty.
