Minutes prior to the start of the Olympic games in Vancouver on Friday, February 12, NBC aired an abbreviated version of 'We Are the World 25 for Haiti', a recording to benefit the victims of the Haiti earthquake. The full video can be seen below. The single is available for download from iTunes with proceeds going directly to the We Are the World Foundation.

ET has released new footage of Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie's all-star recording of We Are the World to benefit Haitian earthquake victims. The pair assembled 100 actors and musicians for the re-recording, which ET's Mary Hart, who was grated access to the recording, calls 'phenomenal again.' Curated by the LA Phil's new Creative Chair, John Adams, the unprecedented three-week multi-disciplinary series of events acknowledges the West Coast's, particularly California's, distinct musical culture and attempts to answer the questions - how did this come about and what does it all mean? In focusing on California as a land of possibility, the varied events that make up the festival provide attendees an opportunity to immerse themselves completely in music from many sources, as well as in symposia, film screenings and other events, all focusing on the West Coast philosophy.

Brian Wilson to Finish Incomplete Gershwin Material

Songs by legendary composer George Gershwin that were left unfinished at the time of his death in 1937, will get a chance to be completed. Due to the decision made by the Gershwin estate, several dozen song fragments will be passed on to Former Beach Boy Brian Wilson. Wilson will finish the pieces and include them in a Gershwin compilation album that he is working on for Walt Disney Records. Details of the release will be announced at a later date.
