Berkeley Playhouse to Present AVENUE Q, 9/17-10/11

Berkeley Playhouse at the historic Julia Morgan Theater opens its eighth season with Avenue Q. The artistic team will be headed by favorite Bay Area actor Danny Cozart (Assassins with Shotgun Players, Babes in Arms with 42nd Street Moon), in his directorial debut. Avenue Q runs from September 17 - October 11, with previews on September 17 and September 19. Opening Night is Saturday, September 19, at the Julia Morgan Theater, 2640 College Avenue in Berkeley. 2015 Elly Award Nominations Are Announced!

More than 430 Elly nominees for the 2014-15 season were announced at an informal nomination reception on Sunday, August 2, 2015 beginning at 7pm. More than 100 actors, directors, technicians, and producers were on hand to listen excitedly for their names to be called. This year's theme is How Sweet It Is and featured an assortment of brightly colored candies displayed in decorative candy jars.

The runaway hit of the 2010 Hollywood Fringe Festival is reinventing itself in a new production produced by Matthew Quinn and Aaron Lyons. Originally helmed by Jordan Monsell, this iteration is directed by Amanda McRaven and features three returning major cast members surrounded by a new ensemble of players.

Written by Aaron Greer, Ben Tallen and Brian Watson-Jones, this production, directed by Christopher Moore, features live music and sound effects by Shayne Gryn to create a truly unique and fun theatrical experience of Tarantino's opus as if it were onstage in Elizabethan England.

MASTER WORKS: THE DEGAS PLAYS Comes to Commedia Beauregard This Weekend

Commedia Beauregard, a Chicago-based theatre company, announces the publication of three play collections as part of its Master Works short play festival. This is the seventh time that Commedia Beauregard has held the festival, which translates paintings to the stage, but the first time the plays will be available in print. The new scripts include works based on the paintings of Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Degas. This year's offering, Master Works: The Degas Plays will also be performed at the Den Theatre for one weekend only -- today, May 29th through June 1st, 2014. Shows are scheduled for Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
