Shakespearean Retelling of PULP FICTION to Play Mainline Theatre, 9/18-28

By:

After Bard Fiction's success at the Toronto Fringe this summer, Beyond the Mountain (BtM) brings this Shakespearean retelling of Quentin Tarantino's cult classic, Pulp Fiction, to Mainline Theatre from Sept. 18 to 28, 2014. Written by Aaron Greer, Ben Tallen and Brian Watson-Jones, this production, directed by Christopher Moore, features live music and sound effects by Shayne Gryn to create a truly unique and fun theatrical experience of Tarantino's opus as if it were onstage in Elizabethan England.

In 2009 Beyond the Mountain's Artistic Director, Danielle Caddell, saw the original production of Bard Fiction by Tedious Brief in Minneapolis. "I was blown away by the writing and knew I just had to bring it to Montreal and Canadian audiences alike."

Bard Fiction comes to Montreal as part of Beyond the Mountain's mandate to bring original productions from around the world to the city and share local creations with the world. Caddell expands: "This is our biggest season to date with Bard Fiction only 1 of 5 shows being performed around the world in 6 different cities. In all, 8 productions including Paul Van Dyck's Paradise Lost and Christian Cagigal's Obscura, which were just at the Edinburgh Fringe. It's been an amazing year!"The cast of 10 actors playing 23 roles is packed with local Montreal talent including Kyle Allatt who just completed a 3-city Maritime tour of The No Bull$#!% History of Canada (also part of BtM's current touring roster) which included Charlottetown's PEI 2014 festivities to commemorate Canadian Confederation. Sarah Segal-Lazar, creator of the award-winning Fringe hits Talk, Mackerel and In Memoriam, Lucas Chartier-Dessert who performed at Place des Arts' Cinquième Salle in The History of the Devil as the titular lead for the Fantasia International Film Festival, as well as Kareem Alleyne, Kevin Black (Metellus Cimber, Julius Caesar), Timothy Diamond (Get off the Stage sketch comedy), Stuart Fink (Director, Living Room. Dark) Chris Hicks (Aboan, Oroonoco), Pamela Perrotti (Portia, Julius Caesar) and Laurent Pitre (creator/performer, This is not a play, Mtl. Fringe 2014). 2013 META nominees, Mel Michaud and Peter Vatsis design costumes and lighting respectively.
