Norm Lewis & Liz Callaway to Star in Cincinnati Pops' YES, VIRGINIA World Premiere Concert, 12/14

The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra will perform the world concert premiere of Macy's Yes, Virginia in Concert at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, at Music Hall. The family-friendly performance is developed and presented by Macy's and will feature John Morris Russell conducting the Pops along with singers and actors in a semi-staged adaptation under the stage direction of Patrick Boyd. Headlining the cast for the world concert premiere are Broadway veterans Liz Callaway, performing the role of Miriam, and Norm Lewis, as Mr. Church. The role of eight-year-old Virginia O'Hanlon will be performed by Gracie Alexander. This will be the world premiere performance of the fully orchestrated concert version of the musical with book and lyrics by William Schermerhorn and music by Wesley Whatley. "Yes, Virginia The Musical" was created by Macy's in 2012 as part of its annual holiday Believe campaign.

The Lincoln Square Business Improvement District (BID) hosts the 14h annual Winter's Eve at Lincoln Square, New York's largest outdoor holiday festival in less than a week on Monday December 2nd from 5:30PM - 9:00PM! The Lincoln Square BID has just announced that they will welcome back folk legend, Arlo Guthrie to lead the line-up and entertain the masses on the main stage at Dante Park (Broadway & 63rd Street) to kick off the holiday season and this highly anticipated night of entrainment. There will be over 20 live performance areas and over 30 restaurants offering savory samples of signature dishes.

Children of all ages are invited to the 14th Annual Winter's Eve at Lincoln Square - New York City's largest outdoor holiday festival hosted by the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District (BID). Theevening of family fun will kick off with a performance by Tony Award Winning, renowned Broadway star, Brian Stokes Mitchell accompanied by Rosie's Theater Kids, Frank London's Klezmer Brass All Stars, Bond Street Theatre's Shinbone Alley Stilt Walking Band, and WABC-TV's Sade Baderinwa at the Upper West Side neighborhood's holiday tree lighting ceremony beginning at 5:30pm at the main stage in Dante Park at Broadway & 63rd Street. This year's 35 foot Norway Spruce and festive lights have been generously donated by local restaurateur PJ Clarke's. The Winter's Eve festival is free, open to the public and will take place on Monday, December 2nd from 5:30 - 9:00 p.m. along Broadway from Time Warner Center to 68th Street with activities for the whole family.

As BroadwayWorld previously announced, Carnegie Hall will stage a one-night-only concert performance of Frank Loesser's beloved Broadway musical Guys and Dolls on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. According to the New York Times, the special event will star Nathan Lane as 'Nathan Detroit,' Megan Mullally as 'Miss Adelaide,' Patrick Wilson as 'Sky Masterson,' and Sierra Boggess as 'Sarah Brown.' Additional casting has not yet been announced.

Spotlight on Broadway-an interactive website and multi-media project featuring the history of Broadway-has officially launched with 40 videos that chart the evolution of Broadway's 40 official theaters and honor the thousands of men and women who have worked on Broadway. Developed by the City of New York Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, in partnership with The Broadway League, each video was filmed inside one of the Broadway theaters and features insightful interviews with some of Broadway's most legendary performers and creative professionals.
