Milanov Conducts Free HAPPY HOUR CONCERT Today

Now in its third year, Happy Hour concerts offer free, informal, after-work concerts performed by the Columbus Symphony, preceded by complimentary appetizers, a DJ in the theatre lobby, and a cash bar. Conducted by the CSO's new Music Director Rossen Milanov, the first Happy Hour concert of the 2015-16 season will be at the Ohio Theatre today, October 29, and will be in partnership with Earshot, The National Orchestral Composition Discovery Network, to present a live Composers' Competition. The CSO will perform four new music compositions from four emerging composers, and ask the audience to vote for their favorite. A professional jury will select an official winner of the competition.

Tony Award winner Christian Borle, and Tony Award nominees Brian d'Arcy James and John Cariani were honored last night with the unveiling of a signature Dan May portrait and party at Tony's di Napoli Restaurant in Times Square, hosted by Valerie Smaldone and Bruce Dimpflmaier, commemorating their roles as Shakespeare and the Bottom Brothers in the smash hit musical Something Rotten! Ghostlight Records just announced that the Original Broadway Cast Album for Something Rotten!, the new musical comedy nominated for 10 Tony Awards including Best Musical, hit #1 on the Billboard Top Broadway chart its first week in digital release. The album also debuted on the Billboard Top 200 chart at #94, the Billboard Top Current Albums chart at #45, and the Billboard Overall Digital Albums chart at #22. This marks the strongest overall cast album debut since June 2014, and the third-strongest sales week of any cast recording in five years. Something Rotten! is officially available now on iTunes here and other digital formats with a 36-page booklet. The disc will be available in stores and online July 17. The album is produced by Kurt Deutsch, Wayne Kirkpatrick, Karey Kirkpatrick and Kevin McCollum. It is co-produced by Lawrence Manchesterand Phil Reno.
