DUTF Continues This Week with TOADSTOOL TEA, FORMOSA & More

Week one of the Downtown Urban Theater Festival (DUTF) kicked off with a moving performance of Javier Reyes' Toy Soldierz and ended with a sold-out performance of The Messiah Complex. DUTF writers in attendance at the Opening Night Playwrights Reception included Javier Reyes, Royal Shiree, Paul Cosma Cimpoieru, Ana Pepine, Fabio Costaprado, Martyna Majok, Rock Wilk, Andrina Smith and Gustav Gauntlett.

Former 'Kansas' lead singer and multiple GRAMMY-winning songwriter and producer John Elefante is using his new single, 'This Time,' to share the story of his adopted daughter's birth, and in the process, bring some attention to Online for Life (OFL), an educational non-profit working to rescue babies from abortion so they can live to make their mark on the world.

Wit and warmth are brought to life in Oliver Goldsmiths eighteenth century comedy, She Stoops to Conquer, presented by Deep Dish Theater Company now through November 17. Downtown Urban Theater Festival (DUTF) opened on Wednesday, March 14, at HERE Mainstage with an exciting night of theatre featuring DEATH BOOGIE, written by Darian Dauchan. This Hip Hop poetry musical featured the poetic artistry of Dauchan and followed the fictional story of Victor Spartan, a blue collar worker who lives a comatose lifestyle by day and at night, hears the poetic sounds of revolution. It was directed by Jennifer McGrath with music accompaniment by The Mighty Third Rail and illustrations by David Ayllon.
