The National Jazz Museum's June line-up includes discussions with musical artists Paquito D'Rivera and Craig Harris for Harlem Speaks; a talk with a living literary legend, Peter Straub, at Jazz for Curious Readers; and our adult education series, Jazz for Curious Listeners, features instrumentalists Jeremy Pelt, Nicholas Payton and Orrin Evans taking the reins of discourse on jazz in the 21st century. The Jazz Education Network (J.E.N.) opens its three-day inaugural conference on the campus of the University of Missouri - St. Louis (UMSL) May 20, 2010. Over two dozen icons of the jazz genre will donate their time and talents as featured artists.

Two New York premieres will be featured in a concert by the Temple University Symphony Orchestra on Friday, April 9, 2010, at 8 p.m. in Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall (Broadway at 65th St., Manhattan). One of the works, Ansel Adams: America (in its New York premiere) by jazz great Dave Brubeck and his son, Chris, will feature 100 projected images by the eminent American photographer. The all-American program also includes works by Bill Cunliffe (also a New York premiere), Samuel Barber, and Leonard Bernstein.

Musical sparks will be flying at the famed Iridium jazz club March 12-14 as Afro-Caribbean musical legend and nine time Grammy winner Eddie Palmieri joins renowned trumpeter (and Grammy Award winner) Brian Lynch for the the Eddie Palmieri/Brian Lynch Jazz Quartet.

During his life time, the legendary drummer Art Blakey performed at Saint Peter's Church, ‘The Jazz Church,' many times.

The festival, being held this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Hilton Hotel in Rockville, Maryland, is produced by Washington D.C.'s Jazz Academy and in addition to Bret's work, features such artists as Mulgrew Miller, Bobby Watson, Lewis Nash and Festival Director, saxman Paul Carr.
