Gallery Players presents 'TIL DEATH DO US PART, a New Musical by Bobby Cronin & Caroline Prugh, presented as part of the Overtures Series at the Gallery Players.

Songwriters Sam Carner and Derek Gregor will present SOMEBODY PUT ACID IN THE EGG NOG, a concert of original holiday songs by some of musical theatre's most notable new writers, tonight, December 19th.

What happens when you mix equal parts Murder, She Wrote with Mad Libs? You get Billy Mitchell's rib-tickling theatrical confection VILLAIN: DeBLANKS. Currently enjoying a residency at The Triad, audiences can catch the madcap hilarity on the first Sunday of each month through April 3, 2016.

Hailed as an 'off-the-hook inclusive comedy...with big laughs' by KABC-LA, 'Brenda Braxton presents Villain: DeBlanks' amazing December 6 cast featured the gloriously funny Geneva Carr (currently on Broadway in 'Hand to God'), wickedly clever Tony-winner Daisy Eagan ('Secret Garden'), the uniquely delightful Lauren Elder ('Sideshow,' 'HAIR'), multi-talented award-winning composer/lyricist Bobby Cronin ('Mary and Max,' '(un)Lucky in Love'), hilarious and handsome Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (current revival of 'Once Upon A Mattress,' 'A Little Night Music'), and inveterate reviewer, former president of the Drama Desk Awards, and champion of the theater, Peter Filichia.

Question: Would you buy an orchestra ticket (or any ticket for that matter) to an experimental Broadway musical called The Sweaty Smorgasbord where the 11 o'clock number is "Supper Sings Tonight?" How about checking out a derivative Jason Robert Brown musical titled The Gassy Breakthrough, where the song "Too Soon" is about whether the protagonist should fart on the first date? Here's one that potential musical theater show investors would love: A new Disney style musical called The Sticky Snake. Of course these aren't real or even prospective Broadway musicals. They are ideas that have emerged from the creative minds of some young composers and lyricists who might very well have their musicals gracing Broadway theaters some day. But in the meantime they have been conjuring up these wild concepts in Tune In Time, a musical theater game show staged semi-regularly at The York Theatre Company on East 54th Street (the next installment will be on Monday, November 9 at 7:30 pm) that could have been created by some hybrid of Chuck Barris (of The Gong Show fame) and Mel Brooks. As the show's creators and producers Amy Engelhardt and Heather Shields are fond of promoting about Tune In Time, "Anything goes . . . and usually does."

BRENDA BRAXTON PRESENTS VILLAIN: DEBLANKS began monthly performances Sunday night, November 1, The Triad NYC, and the audience and cast alike laughed themselves silly. Sometimes it was the script, sometimes it was the delivery, sometimes it was a brilliant combination of the two, but whichever it was, the room never got quiet from the opening line. "Hear it here first!" After an overwhelmingly successful inaugural season, The Gallery Players continues OVERTURES, their series of new musical theatre readings. Helmed by theatre director and scholar, Barrie Gelles, OVERTURES was created in order to foster the creation of new musical theatre and support the talented composers and writers as they develop their work.

The November installment will feature lyricists Meghan Kelleher (songwriter), Sukari Jones (Location, Location, Location!!!), and Kathleen Wrinn (Ten: The Story of Grace and Joe) and composers Bobby Cronin (unlucky in Love, 2014 NEO writer at the York), Andy Roninson (creator of the podcast Take a Ten Musicals), and Adam Spiegel (Cloned! and a returning TUNE IN TIME champion).

InProximity Theatre Company will present the NYC premiere of PROMISING, written by Michelle Elliott and directed by Terry Berliner. PROMISING begins performances on Saturday, November 14 for a limited engagement through Saturday, December 5. Opening Night is Wednesday, November 18 at 8 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday at 7 PM; Wednesday - Friday at 8 PM; Saturday at 2 PM &  8 PM; Sunday at 3 PM. Please note, there are added Wednesday matinee performances on November 25 and December 2 at 2 PM; there is no performance on Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 26). Performances are at the Beckett Theatre on Theatre Row (410 W 42nd Street, between 9th and Dyer). Just in time for Halloween, Prospect Theater Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Cara Reichel and Managing Director Melissa Huber, presents STAGE FRIGHT, a collection of macabre mini-musicals, the culminating production of Prospect's 2015 Annual Music Theater Lab, from October 25-31 at the West End Theatre at the Church of St. Paul and St. Andrew (263 West 86th Street).

Understudies are the unsung heroes and the backbone of the theatre industry - and actress/singer Ceili O'Connor is a quintessential and literal unsung hero, having understudied in various productions for five years without ever actually having the opportunity to go on in the lead roles she has covered. Most recently, at the Arts Theatre's studio space, Above The Arts, she finally got the chance to showcase her talent in her own solo cabaret, The Understudy - Waiting In The Wings.

Lauren Elder, most recently seen in the Broadway revival of SIDE SHOW, is currently recording her debut album of original music. Written by Lauren, the album is being recorded at Motel Room Studios in Long Island City, and co-produced with Bobby Cronin and Dan Crowley.

The Broadway Dreams Foundation (BDF), in partnership with the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, returns to Philadelphia for a weeklong musical theater intensive, August 2-9, during which Philadelphia's most promising performers will receive unprecedented instruction from the industry's top directors, choreographers and professionals.  To conclude the weeklong intensive, BDF will present GENERATION, a unique Broadway-style revue featuring performances by Broadway veterans and emerging local talent.
