Birmingham Hippodrome Hits New Admissions High with 2013-14 Season

Birmingham Hippodrome is delighted to announce a record-breaking year which saw paid admissions increase to over 625,000 tickets in the 2013/14 financial year. For some time the city's Hurst Street theatre, an independent registered charity, has been regarded as the most popular single auditorium in the country averaging over half a million visits annually. But this year's extraordinary increase, representing 85% of capacity, has been driven by a unique season of blockbuster productions includingPhantom of the Opera, The Lion King, War Horse and the best Pantomime for a decade.

From today, February 20-March 2, 2014, Houston Ballet presents the North American Premiere of David Bintley's Aladdin, the first work by the celebratEd English choreographer to enter Houston Ballet's repertoire.

Dance Repertory Theatre to Present KINESTHETIC IMPERATIVE, 3/6-9

The University of Texas at Austin's award-winning ensemble Dance Repertory Theatre returns to the B. Iden Payne Theatre in Kinesthetic Imperative March 6-9. The annual spring concert features unique and compelling works created by renowned choreographers, including Merce Cunningham, a leader of American avant-garde dance.

Houston Ballet Hosts Dance Talk With Choreographer David Bintley Tonight

Tonight, February 8 from 6:00 - 7:00 pm, the celebrated English choreographer David Bintley will be interviewed by Houston Artistic Director Stanton at Houston Ballet Center for Dance at 601 Preston Street, 77002, in downtown Houston. This Dance Talk is free and open to the public. Mr. Bintley is director of Birmingham Royal Ballet, and choreographer of Houston Ballet's upcoming production of Aladdin, which runs February 20 - March 3, 2014. Mr. Bintley will discuss his distinguished career, his works as a choreographer, and Aladdin. Sasha De Sola & Tiit Helimets Set for SLEEPING BEAUTY at Allen Civic Ballet, 5/17

SASHA DE SOLA, soloist of the San Francisco Ballet, and TIIT HELIMETS, principal dancer of the San Francisco Ballet, will appear as guest artists in a collaborative performance co-presented by the Allen Civic Ballet and the Allen Philharmonic. Ms. De Sola and Mr. Helimets will dance the Grand Pas de Deux in The Sleeping Beauty Act III in collaboration with the Allen Civic Ballet and the performance will be accompanied by the Allen Philharmonic at the Performing Arts Center at Allen High School in Allen, Texas on May 17, 2014.

International Dance Festival Birmingham 2014 to Kick Off in the UK, April 24

The award-winning International Dance Festival Birmingham, one of Europe's biggest dance festivals, returns to the city from 24 April 2014 - bringing the theatres, streets and squares of Birmingham to life with four consecutive weeks of dance. Following three previous successful festivals in 2008, 2010 and 2012, this biennial event, co-produced by DanceXchange and Birmingham Hippodrome, once again features an eclectic and jam-packed programme bursting with world-class performers, unique international collaborations, premieres, new commissions and a range of participatory opportunities in venues across Birmingham and the West Midlands.

Birmingham Royal Ballet to Bring THE PRINCE OF PAGODAS to London Coliseum in 2014

As part of the Britten 100 Celebrations Birmingham Royal Ballet will perform The Prince of Pagodas in 2014. Ahead of a London Coliseum season from Wednesday 26 until Saturday 29 March the ballet, choreographed by Birmingham Royal Ballet's award-winning director David Bintley, will be performed at The Lowry Salford Quays (30 Jan - 1 Feb), Birmingham Hippodrome (25 Feb - 1 March) and Plymouth's Theatre Royal (19 - 22 March).

Company C Contemporary Ballet Opens its 12th Season With its Winter Program, 1/30-2/16
