Rent which will star X Factor's Joseph Whelan as Roger, is coming to Birmingham this July. The show will premier at Birmingham's Old Rep Theatre for five exclusive performances before a proposed UK tour.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of their move to Birmingham, the Birmingham Royal Ballet presents a triple bill of contrasting works at the Birmingham Hippodrome. As a relatively small company, the dancers have to be flexible and adapt to a whole range of dance styles. This triple bill, Theme and Variations, is the perfect showcase for the dancers, ranging from American Balanchine, to classic Ashton, and cutting edge contemporary work.

Houston Ballet Artistic Director Stanton Welch was awarded the Order of Australia for his contributions to the world of dance. The award recognizes his significant service to the performing arts as a ballet dancer, mentor, choreographer and artistic director. The prestigious Order of Australia Award, established in 1975, is bestowed on Australian citizens for meritorious service in a particular area or field of activity.
Choreographers Kyle Abraham, Jessica Lang and Reggie Wilson have been awarded New York City Center's 2015 Choreography Fellowships. The Fellowship supports choreographers at critical stages in their careers and reflects City Center's long history of nurturing dance makers, from George Balanchine to Christopher Wheeldon.
Birmingham Hippodrome has confirmed that FIONA ALLAN will become its new Chief Executive in the autumn. Current CEO Stuart Griffiths OBE moves to Ambassador Theatre Group in July, as announced in January.
FRANCES CHUNG and TIIT HELIMETS, principal dancers of the San Francisco Ballet, will appear as guest artists in the Allen Civic Ballet/Allen Philharmonic's joint production of Swan Lake Act III on May 16, 2015 at the Performing Arts Center at Allen High School in Allen, Texas. Ms. Chung and Mr. Helimets will be dancing the Black Swan Pas de Deux as part of this production. Ms. Chung and Mr. Helimets will also teach master classes prior to this performance.
SASHA DE SOLA, soloist of the San Francisco Ballet, and TIIT HELIMETS, principal dancer of the San Francisco Ballet, will appear in a joint production with the Allen Civic Ballet and the Allen Philharmonic, dancing the Black Swan Pas de Deux in Act III of Swan Lake on May 16, 2015 at the Performing Arts Center at Allen High School in Allen, Texas. As part of their residency, both Ms. De Sola and Mr. Helimets will also be teaching master classes.
