Bay Street Theatre is celebrating Black History Month in February with special programming throughout the month.

Bay Street Theatre will include special screening of STORMY WEATHER, LADY SINGS THE BLUES and MAHOGANY in their HarborFrost and Valentine's Day Weekend celebrations. The weekend activities will also include THE JAM SESSION, LEGENDS: MOTOWN and a dance with a DJ.

Bay Street Theatre announces a special film and dance event on Saturday, February 12 at 8 pm. See Diana Ross and Billy Dee Williams in the romantic film MAHOGANY followed by a dance with a DJ just in time for a special night on Valentines Day Weekend. Adult Swim's Robot Chicken returns to that galaxy far, far away for a brand-new Star Wars-themed special premiering December 12 at 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT). This third installment in the Robot Chicken: Star Wars trilogy follows the two previous specials, which resulted in multiple Emmy nominations and numerous Annie Awards for both specials and the writers Ahmed Best and Seth Green. Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III, to be directed by Chris McKay, marries the satirical sensibilities of Green and Matthew Senreich's (Stoopid Monkey Productions) Emmy-winning Robot Chicken with characters of the Star Wars universe. The specials and the Robot Chicken series, the highest-rated original program on Adult Swim, are created in conjunction with ShadowMachine Films' Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico.

I was thirteen when Star Wars came out in May of 1977, and it made quite an impression on this particular teenage boy. I was a little older when The Empire Strikes Back came out, and even more so by the time Return of the Jedi premiered, but they were enjoyable romps as well, although I personally could have done without the Ewoks. Now, it's thirty-three years later, I get to witness the Magic Smoking Monkey Theatre's production of THE ONE-HOUR STAR WARS TRILOGY: LIVE!. I'm happy to report that it's a fond, fast and funny trip back in time for a fan like myself.
