'BATMAN AND ROBIN' Premieres Off-Broadway 6/16

Juliette Jeffers' highly acclaimed two-act-tour-de-force, "BATMAN and ROBIN in the BOOGIE DOWN" has been lauded in both Dallas and Los Angeles where it enjoyed sold-out runs.

Miss Jeffers' film and television schedules prevented a New York premiere until now.

Originally directed by Reggie Rock Bythewood, the show opens for a limited run on Wednesday, June 16th at the theatre at STAGE LEFT STUDIO (438 West 37th Street #5A) where it will play through July 17th with an option to extend through August.

"BATMAN and ROBIN in the BOOGIE DOWN" is a touching and quirky biographical tale of two siblings. The acclaimed play chronicles their life and loss, from their exuberant childhood games as Batman and Robin, to the sudden passing of the older brother at the age of 33.

In ACT I we see that the sister has become ill after her brother's death. She tries a myriad of alternative treatments from acupuncture to biofeedback to get better but nothing works. So she decides to go home to connect with her brother's spirit.

In ACT II the brother comes back in spirit form to answer some of his beloved sister's questions and to give her some peace and closure.

Both siblings tell their stories from their points of view through heart-wrenching and heart-warming flashbacks.

It is a poignant story of two lives eternally intertwined with a multitude of vibrant characters from their shared past in the Bronx ... and beyond.

ABOUT JULIETTE JEFFERS

A true artist who lives to heal herself and others by using every creative bone in her body, Juliette is a Caribbean-American who began her journey as an artist at The High School of Performing Arts in Manhattan. She went on to earn a degree in Languages from Hofstra University and her studies included programs in both Spain and France. Upon graduation, she moved to L.A. to pursue a career in acting. She has enjoyed a career in Theatre, T.V. and Film. In the Theatre World, Juliette was nominated for a NAACP Theatre Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in ‘Ah Ha Moments' "Butterscotch and Fudge" at the Complex Theatre. She was also a finalist in "15 Minutes of Fem", a one-woman show competition at The Egyptian Arena Theatre. Her first one- woman play, "Batman and Robin in the Boogie Down" premiered at The Elephant Theatre to packed audiences and rave reviews. Since then, it was the featured opening play at the African American Theatre Festival in Dallas, was nominated for a NAACP Theatre Award for Best Play in L.A., won for Best Lighting and was performed at the L.A. Women's Theatre Festival twice. Her second one woman-show, "Looking For a Chocolate Match.com," premiered in 2008 at the LAWTF and was performed in conjunction with Vanessa Williams' one-woman show at the Elephant Theatre in L.A. A few of her recent T.V. guest star appearances include "Raising The Bar", "Grey's Anatomy", "E.R." and "Without a Trace." In Film, she has appeared in "Play the Game "with Andy Griffith, "The Nobel Son", with Alan Rickman and "Constellation", with Billy Dee Williams.

ABOUT REGGIE ROCK BYTHEWOOD

Reggie received a B.A. degree from Marymount College in Manhattan. He co-founded the Harlem-based theater company called the Tribe, where he wrote, produced and directed various plays. Reggie then went on to write the screenplay for Spike Lee's feature film "Get on the Bus." He also wrote and directed the HBO original film, "Dancing in September," which was an official selection at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival. Reggie co-wrote and directed the Dreamworks film "Biker Boyz," starring Laurence Fishburne. On T.V., some of his writing credits include, "A Different World" and "N.Y. Undercover". His latest writing adventure was for the film "Notorious" about the life of rapper, Notorious BIG.
