Steppenwolf ensemble member and three-time Tony® and Emmy® nominee Martha Plimpton will be the guest of honor at the 2nd annual Steppenwolf Salutes WOMEN IN THE ARTS fundraising luncheon on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 12:00 pm at The W Chicago - City Center, 172 West Adams St. Ms. Plimpton will be interviewed about her stage, television and film career by Steppenwolf Artistic Director Martha Lavey in a format similar toInside the Actors Studio. Ensemble member Joan Allen was honored at last year's inaugural Steppenwolf Salutes WOMEN IN THE ARTS fundraiser.

BroadwayWorld has learned that the upcoming Broadway production of ARCADIA has delayed the start of performances by one day, now set to begin on February 26. The delay is due to more rehearsal time needed, given weather complications and delays in visa processing for the British cast members.

The New York Times has revealed that Sanaa Lathan will star in Second Stage's production of Meet Vera Stark this season. She joins Stephanie J. Block and Karen Olivo.
The production also stars Daniel Breaker, KIMBERLY HÉBERT GREGORY and Kevin Isola in this world premiere comedy, BY THE WAY, MEET VERA STARK, the new play by Lynn Nottage, directed by Jo Bonney. BY THE WAY, MEET VERA STARK is Ms. Nottage's first play to be produced in New York since she won the Pulitzer Prize for Ruined in 2009.

Virginia's Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre has announced the artistic team behind the upcoming world premiere of the musical comedy And the Curtain Rises (formerly known as Wheatley's Folly), which begins performances on Thursday, March 17, 2011. And the Curtain Rises marks the third production presented as part of Signature's groundbreaking American Musical Voices Project, the largest commissioning program for new musicals in the country, following Michael John LaChiusa's Giant in 2009 and Ricky Ian Gordon's Sycamore Trees last year.

The New Group held a celebration last night for its world premiere production of the new play Blood From A Stone byTommy Nohilly. Directed by Scott Elliott, Blood From A Stone features Gordon Clapp, Ann Dowd, Thomas Guiry, Ethan Hawke, Natasha Lyonne and Daphne Rubin-Vega.
Previews began Monday, December 13. Originally slated to open Thursday, January 6, the production will have its Official Opening Night on Wednesday, January 12 at 7:00 PM. A limited engagement runs through February 5 at The New Group @ Theatre Row.

The Amoralists will extend the New York Premiere of Ghosts in the Cottonwoods, written and directed by Adam Rapp. Ghosts in the Cottonwoods, originally set to close on December 6, will continue its Off-Broadway run through December 12 at Theatre 80 St. Marks, located at 80 St. Marks Place between 1st and 2nd Avenues in NYC.
