The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for August Wilson's Jitney, directed by one of Wilson's foremost interpreters, Ruben Santiago-Hudson.

Beginning at a rather leisurely pace, JITNEY takes its time introducing us to the cast of characters working and hanging out together in the one-room gypsy cab business office run by Becker (Steven Anthony Jones), a former mill worker who prides himself on owning his own business. His employees, who we learn about via their individual stories as they interact with the other characters, allow the audience an intimate view of the Pittsburgh working-class struggling to keep afloat in a time of great social change during the city's period of so-called a?oeurban renewal,a?? as the city tries to shut down businesses -- including the cab station -- to make way for a new, more upscale modern building

August Wilson's “Jitney,” opened this week at Center Theatre Group at the Mark Taper Forum, running now through December 29.

Presented by Center Theatre Group, performances for August Wilson's a?oeJitneya?? will begin on November 22 at the Mark Taper Forum. Performances will continue through December 29 with the opening set for November 24. Originally presented by Manhattan Theatre Club, a?oeJitneya?? is directed by Tony Award winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson.

Tony Award winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson brings his autobiographical solo show LACKAWANNA BLUES to the Mark Taper (already in previews), with opening night set for March 13, 2019. Hearkening back to his 1950's childhood in Lackawanna, New York; Ruben assumes the roles of twenty-plus characters he grew up with.

Performances begin tonight, March 5, for Ruben Santiago-Hudson's powerful and touching solo play "Lackawanna Blues" at the Mark Taper Forum. Produced by Center Theatre Group, "Lackawanna Blues" is written, performed and directed by Santiago-Hudson with live music performed by Grammy-winning blues guitarist, composer and actor Chris Thomas King. The production will run through April 21 with the opening set for March 13 at 8 p.m.

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and Lincoln Center Education continue the popular, free summer community concert series, Lincoln Center Local, with eight live events in libraries throughout Queens this August. The series continues Lincoln Center's commitment to bring exceptional arts and artists to new audiences and into the community. In the fall of 2013, The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space at WNYC & WQXR undertook a historic undertaking: to record -- for the first time -- all 10 plays from August Wilson's lauded American Century Cycle. Those audio recordings, along with exclusive video excerpts and photographs from the readings, are now being made available for online streaming on a time-limited basis here until August 26, 2015.

YOUR BLUES AIN'T SWEET LIKE MINE began its three-week run April 17 at the Two River Theater in Red Bank by focusing on the important issue of race in America. Tony Award winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson's script and direction produced a realistic and meaningful production that reinforced the concept that more than home is where the heart is - it's where you are as well - and asked many poignant questions whose answers appear at different points in the performance.

In conjunction with the exhibition Latin America in Construction: Architecture 1955–1980, Learning from/in Latin America will expand on the exhibition's curatorial framework and further explore key positions, debates, and architectural activity arising from Mexico to Cuba and the Southern Cone over three decades of development between 1955 and the early 1980s.
