Milwaukee Repertory Theater Receives $500,000 Grant

In response to Milwaukee Repertory Theater's announcement that its historic building has experienced significant settling in recent years necessitating immediate repairs, The Herzfeld Foundation has awarded a one-time $500,000 grant toward construction costs. Combined with a $250,000 grant from the United Performing Arts Fund and a $75,000 grant from the Bert L and Patricia S Steigleder Charitable Trust, along with contributions from several individuals, The Rep has secured commitments for more than 50% of the $1.75 million in total repair costs.

Lifetime's adaptation of THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL, starring Cicely Tyson and Vanessa Williams, is set to premiere tonight, March 8th on the cable network. The Trip to Bountiful is a television adaptation of American playwright and screenwriter Horton Foote's Tony nominated play. Set during the final years of the Jim Crow South, the film follows one woman's quest to reconnect with her past in order to ensure her family's future. The New 42nd Street has announced that its annual Gala, to be held Monday, November 18 at The New Victory Theater, will honor visionary entertainment leader Michael D. Eisner with the New Victory Arts Award for bringing kids to the arts and the arts to kids. Barry Diller and Thomas Schumacher will serve as Gala honorary chairs.
