They just don't make good door slammer farces like they used to. Perhaps we've lost the sensibilities to come up with new ideas that make these tales of mistaken identity, concealed trysts and ridiculous characters funny. But luckily we still have old chestnuts like "Boeing Boeing", currently playing at the Seattle Rep, and people like director Allison Narver who understand what it takes to bring these tales to life and make them gut-bustingly funny.

Strawberry Theatre Workshop previously decided to reschedule Jose Gonzales Trio Plays 'A Charlie Brown Christmas.' Seattle theatre lost one of its leaders--Andrea Allen--on November 15th. This week it was announced that the celebration of Andrea's contribution to the arts and arts education would be held on Monday, December 10th at Seattle Repertory Theatre. To allow the community to fully participate in this memorial, the theatre's event, originally scheduled for the same date, will now take place tonight, December 11th.
OK, at times it was a little long winded; too many songs and a little over reaching in getting its message across. But beyond that Strawberry Theatre Workshop's production of "This Land - Woody Guthrie" manages to transcend the music and the message and land itself into a realm of charming and simple grace.
Following hard on the heels of a successful revival of Dario Fo's Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Strawberry Theatre Workshop continues what's being described as 'a season of agitation and propaganda' with a second company classic, This Land | Woody Guthrie, a play for actors and puppets derived from the music, drawing, and writing of folk artist Woody Guthrie. Strawshop's 2004 production of This Land was the first show in the company's history.

It's that time of year again. Time to make your voices heard for your favorite shows and performances from the 2011 Seattle Theater Season. Last year's inaugural Seattle awards were so much fun that we just had to bring them back.

The votes are in, the ballots tallied and the people have spoken. Yes, the 2010 BroadwayWorld Seattle Theater awards results are in and my oh my was it a nail biter. There was some fierce competition out there but the voters have spoken. But since the results were so close, we're going to put in not only the winners but also the 1st and 2nd runners up as well. And I'm also going to throw in my own Critic's Choice for the hell of it. So without further ado, the envelopes please...
