Hoffman, Lithgow and More Lend Hand To Support Westport County Playhouse

Award-winning actors Philip Seymour Hoffman, John Lithgow and other celebrities will offer one-of-a-kind entertainment experiences in a silent auction to benefit Westport Country Playhouse (Joanne Woodward and Anne Keefe, artistic directors, Jodi Schoenbrun Carter, managing director), at the historic Westport, Connecticut theatre's annual fundraising gala on Monday, September 15. Norbert Leo Butz To Star Opposite Marvel In Weller's 'Fifty Words'

MCC THEATER (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, Artistic Directors; William Cantler, Associate Artistic Director; Blake West, Executive Director) today announced that Tony Award-winner Norbert Leo Butz has been signed to star opposite Elizabeth Marvel in the World Premiere Production of Michael Weller's Fifty Words, under the direction of Austin Pendleton. The two-character play begins performances at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) on September 10 and continues through October 25, with an opening night set for Sunday, September 28 at 6:30 p.m.

Photo Coverage: MCC Theater's Annual Gala 'Miscast'

MCC Theater annual gala, Miscast, was held Monday, March 10, 2008 at The Hammerstein Ballroom (311 West 34th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues). Miscast 2008 brought together the best and brightest Broadway talent as they performed songs from roles in which they would never be cast. Lynn Redgrave, currently in MCC's production of Grace, will served as the evening's Honorary Chair. Broadway's Phil Reno provided musical direction.
