NEWSIES' Corey Cott and Composer Jacob Tischler to Kick Off Birdland's New MENTOR MONDAYS, 9/30

Jim Caruso's Cast Party, Birdland's 'extreme' open mic, has announced a new segment called MENTOR MONDAYS, which will take place on the last Monday of every month. MENTOR MONDAYS will pair up-and-coming singers and composers with established artists to create a featured performance for the historic Birdland stage. MENTOR MONDAYS will give emerging young performers the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to collaborate with some of New York's most talented musical theater songsmiths, including Adam Guettel, Lisa Lambert, Frank Wildhorn, Amanda Green, John Bucchino and Georgia Stitt, as well as singers Jane Monheit and Billy Porter.

A new casting notice has gone out for the recently announced 2014 Broadway revival of the nautical musical DAMES AT SEA and a note on the listing confirms the cast of the musical will follow the tradition of utilizing six performers only in the dance-packed charmer.

75 - year old singer Tonia Tecce has made her long-delayed New York City cabaret debut last night at The Metropolitan Room. Previously, Tecce has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Philadelphia's Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts Academy of Music, and sung with Peter Nero and many orchestras . Her show, A Cockeyed Optimist, Why We Believe, The Songs of Richard Rodgers, was written and directed by Michael Bush.
