A new casting notice has gone out for the recently announced 2014 Broadway revival of the nautical musical DAMES AT SEA and a note on the listing confirms the cast of the musical will follow the tradition of utilizing six performers only in the dance-packed, '30s-set charmer.

The note reads as follows: "NOTE: Dames at Sea is a valentine to the early 30s Busby Berkeley movie musicals. It must not be "sent up" or played for camp. All actors must have period style and keen comic sensibilities. This production will be a tap dancing extravaganza, all the more clever as there are only 6 actors in the cast."

The 1968 Off-Broadway production famously showcased newcomer Bernadette Peters in her debut, as Ruby, quickly transferring to the Theater De Lys for a two-year run beginning in 1969. The musical has subsequently been revived twice in the West End, as well - in 1969 and 1989, respectively - making it a popular international favorite, at least until recently.

Performer and director/choreographer Randy Skinner stages the new DAMES AT SEA, featuring a production based on his 2012 regional mounting.

DAMES AT SEA features music by Jim Wise with book and lyrics by George Haimsohn and Robin Miller.
