Happy New Year, BroadwayWorld! As we eagerly anticipate the amazing musicals and plays coming up in 2016, we're taking a moment to look back at the significant Broadway closings of 2015.

Centenary Stage Company's family favorite smash hit holiday spectacular, A CHRISTMAS CAROL: THE MUSICAL is now in its final weekend in the Lackland Center. 

The first UK tour of the worldwide smash hit musical MAMMA MIA! will come to Edinburgh Playhouse in 2016.

Centenary Stage Company's family favorite Holiday Spectacular, A Christmas Carol:  The Musical, returns to the Sitnik Theater on November 27 until December 13 in the Lackland Center.

Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus' MAMMA MIA!, the smash hit musical based on the songs of ABBA, will play San Jose's Center for the Performing Arts (255 S. Almaden Blvd.) for five performances only - June 3 - 5, 2016. 

Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus' MAMMA MIA!, the smash hit musical based on the songs of ABBA, returns to the Fabulous Fox Theatre in November. Performances begin on November 6 and run through November 8 at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in St. Louis, Missouri. 

MAMMA MIA! is one of the most successful musicals of all time, the eighth longest running show in Broadway history and one of only five current musicals to have run for more than ten years on Broadway. The West End production is now in its seventeenth year. The global smash hit musical MAMMA MIA! at London's Novello Theatre is now extending its booking perioduntil 22 October 2016, taking the show through to its 18th playing year in London.

Today in 2001, Mamma Mia opened at the Winter Garden Theatre, where it is still running. Mamma Mia! is a stage musical written by British playwright Catherine Johnson, based on the songs of ABBA, composed by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, former members of the band. The musical includes such hits as 'Super Trouper', 'Lay All Your Love On Me', 'Dancing Queen', 'Knowing Me, Knowing You', 'Take A Chance On Me', 'Thank You for the Music', 'Money, Money, Money', 'The Winner Takes It All', 'Voulez Vous' and 'SOS'. Over 42 million people have seen the show, which has grossed $2 billion dollars worldwide since its 1999 debut.
