David Hyde Pierce to Perform with Philadelphia Orchestra at Saratoga PAC, 7/29

Tony Award winner David Hyde Pierce will appear with the Philadelphia Orchestra to narrate Benjamin Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra at Saratoga Performing Arts Center, in Saratoga Springs, NY, on July 29 at 8pm. In addition, the roster of events will include an evening with Grammy winning saxophonist Branford Marsalis, and a full screening of classic film Casablanca with a live orchestral performance of the film's score.

Wallfisch to Conduct North Carolina Symphony, 3/25-26

The Kennedy Center Will Present FRAGMENTS Plays, 4/14-17

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents C.I.C.T./Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord's production of Fragments running April 14 to 17 in the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater. Co-directed by Peter Brook and Marie Hélène Estienne, Fragments brings together four short plays by Samuel Beckett including Rough for Theatre I, Rockaby, Act Without Words II, Come and Go, as well as the poem, Neither. Press night will take place on Thursday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m.

Kate Royal's new album, A Lesson in Love, which will be released in the U.S. on March 8, raises the curtain on a busy spring season for the British soprano in North America, beginning in March when Royal appears with the Boston Symphony for an imaginatively-programmed concert of music inspired by Shakespeare's The Tempest. Soon after, Royal heads to New York to begin rehearsals for her Metropolitan Opera debut in April, and in May she gives a three-city recital tour that will feature the program from the new album.

Houston Grand Opera Announces its 2011-12 Season

The Los Angeles Master Chorale explores England's grand choral tradition through the ages with 'London Bridges,' an all-British program conducted by Music Director Grant Gershon featuring the music of William Byrd, Judith Weir, John Tavener and Benjamin Britten, as well as a selection of English madrigals, on Sunday, January 30, 2011, 7:00 p.m., at Disney Hall. Lesley Leighton, appointed Assistant Conductor of the chorus in July 2010, makes her Los Angeles Master Chorale conducting debut leading Hymn to St. Cecelia, one of two Britten works to be spotlighted. Organist Paul Meier is the guest artist.

Paavo Jarvi will lead the New York Philharmonic in the New York Premiere of ErkkiSven Tuur's Aditus; Britten's Violin Concerto with Janine Jansen as soloist; and Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, Thursday, February 24, 2011, at 7:30 p.m., Friday, February 25, at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 26, at 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. This is Mr. Jarvi's first return to the Orchestra since 1999, and Ms. Jansen's, since her Philharmonic debut in 2007.
