The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) celebrates the 200th anniversary of composer Richard Wagner's birth (May 22, 1813) with an unprecedented series of events this month. Beginning on Friday, Oct. 11, and running through Thursday, Oct. 24, CCM explores Wagner's iconic work and enduring legacy with a series of guest lectures, film screenings and a concert performance by the CCM Philharmonia. Aside from the Oct. 12 Philharmonia performance, these events are free and open to the general public.

Three NYC arts organizations specializing in song and chamber music are teaming up in October to present a weekend-long celebration of the vocal works of Benjamin Britten, who would have turned 100 years old this year. Five Boroughs Music Festival (5BMF), The Casement Fund Song Series, and Brooklyn Art Song Society (BASS) have assembled a massive roster of exceptional vocalists and pianists, including renowned collaborative pianist Malcolm Martineau, who will present a total of five programs over a two-day span.

The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, led by Music Director Jeffrey Kahane, presents the highly anticipated U.S. premiere of the orchestral version of Bruce Adolphe's Do You Dream in Color?, a powerful work set to a poem about living without sight written by rising mezzo-soprano Laurie Rubin. Born blind, Rubin, a 1997 Music Center Spotlight Awards winner, joins LACO for the premiere, marking her LACO debut, on Saturday, October 19, 8 pm, at Pasadena's Ambassador Auditorium, and Sunday, October 20, 7 pm, at UCLA's Royce Hall.

The epic production of National Theatre's "War Horse," based on the novel by English author, poet, playwright and librettist and 2003-05 Children's Laureate Michael Morpurgo, is the latest addition to a series of hit London plays that will be broadcast this season at Northwestern University. Last season, Pablo Heras-Casado made his Carnegie Hall debut as principal conductor of Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL), earning praise from The New York Times as "the thinking person's idea of a hotshot young conductor" with a largely Romantic program. This season, Heras-Casado shows that he is as versatile as he is thoughtful on the podium, when he opens OSL's Carnegie Hall Orchestra Series on October 23, 2013 at 8:00 PM with a program of Mendelssohn, Britten, and Shostakovich.

Building upon his 2010 production, TOM RYAN THINKS HE'S JAMES MASON STARRING IN A MOVIE BY NICHOLAS RAY…Daniel Fish reunites with actors Christina Rouner and Thomas Jay Ryan on a new work that fuses theater, cinema, and environmental installation. ETERNAL is Fish's most conceptually ambitious production to date. In August, Fish assembled a film crew to shoot Ryan and Rouner performing the final scene of the 2004 film ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND in a continuous loop for two hours - the only constraint: that they must keep going, no matter what happens. The unedited two channel video of their performance will be projected on screens that face each other from across the space. The audience sits between the lovers.
