Second Stage Theatre's Spring Gala celebration will honor Corporate Partner American Express, Artist Anna Deavere Smith, and Trustees Tavener Holmes Berry and Bambi Putnam for their extraordinary commitment to the arts and Second Stage on Monday, April 2, 2012 at Cipriani 42nd Street, 110 East 42nd Street.

Prospect Theatre Company presents FOOLS FOR LOVE, a one-night-only concert performance celebrating April Fool's Day, on Sunday April 1 at 7pm at the Laurie Beechman Theatre in the West Bank Cafe. Ticket prices for this event are $25 for regular general admission, $35 for premium reserved seating at the best tables in the house. In addition, there is a $15 food and beverage minimum for each guest; doors open for seating at 6:30pm.

Broadway composer Andrew Lippa ("The Addams Family," "The Wild Party") is among three master teachers leading the 2012 Johnny Mercer Foundation Songwriters Project at Northwestern University. Lippa will be joined by Tony Award-nominated composer and lyricist Craig Carnelia and three-time Grammy winning singer and songwriter Lari White to conduct the weeklong program for emerging songwriters.

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) will conclude its 33rd season with the World Premiere of the new musical, DOGFIGHT, featuring music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, a book by Peter Duchan and directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello. Winner of the prestigious 2011 Richards Rodgers Award for Musical Theatre, DOGFIGHT will be performed at Second Stage's Tony Kiser Theatre (305 West 43rd street) this summer. On Wednesday, December 14, A Christmas Story, The Musical! celebrated its opening night at Chicago's legendary Chicago Theatre.America's #1 Christmas movie comes to life on stage as hilarious holiday musical featuring a bright holiday score by composer/lyricist team Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and a book by Joseph Robinette based on the writings of radio humorist Jean Shepherd and the 1983 holiday film favorite. Tony Award winner John Rando (Urinetown, The Wedding Singer) will direct the production with Warren Carlyle (Finian's Rainbow, Follies, An Evening With Hugh Jackman) choreographing.

The Hive Theatre presents WHEN MIDNIGHT STRIKES by Kevin Hammonds and Charles Miller, being performed as part of The Hive's Exposed Series; staged readings of new and underexposed plays or musicals.

The ASCAP Foundation honored composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz for his lifetime contributions to the Musical Theater with The ASCAP Foundation Richard Rodgers Award. On hand to make the presentation was Richard Rodgers' grandson and fellow musical theater composer Adam Guettel (The Light in the Piazza). The accolade was presented today during the Foundation's 16th Annual Awards Ceremony, held at the Allen Room, Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, in New York City. The invitation-only event, hosted by ASCAP Foundation President Paul Williams, also honored a wide variety of Scholarship and Award recipients, all of whom benefit from programs of The ASCAP Foundation.

The New Voices Collective is gearing up for IN DEVELOPMENT: New Songs from New Shows, New Voices' triumphant return to its original home at Peter Norton Symphony Space, this coming Monday, December 12, at 8:00 p.m. An incredible roster of composers have contributed songs from their new musicals, providing a 'sneak peek' at an interesting array of projects, such as Homemade Fusion by Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond and Bunnicula by Sam Davis and Mark Waldrop.

Today, in a piece for the New York Times, producer Jerry Goehring said that the show has received 'a lot of interest' to play Broadway next year, citing what he described as 'active discussions' to place A CHRISTMAS STORY in a Broadway house.
