An unpredictable and anarchic performance set to a pounding, eclectic score, Hot Mess is danced amidst a striking design, as art installation meets dance piece. The explosive new work, by the company that continues to expand perceptions of what dance can be, will mark the first time Newman has written music for the stage.
Prolific playwright David Edgar is directed in his professional performance debut by triple Fringe First Award-winner Christopher Haydon in a solo show considering the legacy of the events of 1968. In 1968, playwright David Edgar was 20 years old. It was also the year of some of the most important and formative events in modern history, including the Paris student revolt, the assassination of Martin Luther King, Enoch Powell's "rivers of blood" speech, and the ongoing war in Vietnam. Trying It On is a new play written and performed by David Edgar, which reflects on the legacy of this momentous year, drawing on first-person interviews with some of the leading political figures of the time, as well as contemporary activists. The performance also marks David's first professional stage performance in this autobiographical one-man play.

Following Strictly Come Dancing's introduction of Contemporary to the 2018 series (within the new dance category "Couple's Choice"), Candoco will be performing with thirteen of the programme's professional dancers to open Sunday 25th November's results show. Candoco Dance Company will for the first time bring their work to a digital audience through Unspoken Spoken, a new dance film created by the esteemed choreographer Fin Walker. Fin Walker's previous work includes the Olivier award-winning After the Dance with Benedict Cumberbatch, and Equus with Daniel Radcliffe, which was met with critical acclaim on West End and Broadway. Created and filmed with support from digital commissioning body The Space, Arts Council England and the BBC, the film seeks to raise awareness of Candoco's work amongst a digital audience for the first time.

Rural Touring Dance Initiative 2 is a partnership between the National Rural Touring Forum (NRTF) and The Place, Take Art and China Plate. Dance is underrepresented on the rural touring circuit and the partnership is seeking to increase opportunities for rural audiences to experience the art form.
