Candoco Dance Company revives its duet You and I Know, created with leading pop choreographer Arlene Phillips CBE. Exploring how we fall in and out of love over and over again - often with the same person - You and I Know will tour to outdoor festivals around the UK and Europe this summer.

Created in collaboration with Candoco dancers, Joel Brown and Laura Patay, You and I Know plays with the structure of the traditional love duet, drawing on dance genres from ballroom to music videos.

Arlene Phillips, whose work includes Annie and collaborations with iconic artists from Whitney Houston and Tina Turner to Queen and Duran Duran said "I'm so excited to be working with Candoco to create this unique duet. Love is an emotion we can all identify with and in this duet we will be inviting the audience to explore this complex emotion, how we fall in and out of love over and over again often with the same person and how our daily routines can sometimes shape our relationships. We will be throwing out the rule book and inspiring audiences about what dance can be and who can dance."

Candoco, the leading company of disabled and non-disabled dance artists, celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2016. Founded in 1991 by Celeste Dandeker and Adam Benjamin, Candoco quickly grew into the first professional dance company of disabled and non-disabled artists in the UK.

The company's Artistic Co-Directors, Ben Wright and Charlotte Darbyshire, joined the company earlier this year, taking over from Stine Nilsen and Pedro Machado who stepped down after a decade. Charlotte Darbyshire was herself a founder member of Candoco and, together, the new artistic co-directors remain curious about what dance can be and how Candoco can change and reimagine perceptions of ability. They aim to continue to commission and produce work by world-class choreographers, with learning at the heart of the company.
