TAKE BACK THE 80's Burlesque Plays Parkside Lounge, 2/8

Minnie D'Moocha (Rockabilly Burlesque) & Francine "The Lucid Dream" (The Pink Room Burlesque) are bringing Take Back the 80's Burlesque to Parkside Lounge this year! The second Friday of every month will be filled with 80s pop culture, music, comedy, games, go-go and of course striptease! Starting on February 8th, there will be no reason to sit at home on a Friday night trying to figure out that Rubik's Cube & hopelessly fixing that total eclipse of your heart.

REWIND SCOTLAND – The 80s Festival Announces 2013 Lineup

Due to the runaway success of the second annual "Rewind Scotland - The 80s Festival" at Scone Palace, Perthshire in 2012, the weekend festival returns for the third year! As with last year's unforgettable concert performances and audience participation, this year's Rewind Scotland boasts another impressive line-up of the creme de la creme of 80s pop artists.

Downtown Cabaret Theatre Presents ABBAmania, 12/14-16

ABBAmania is rated the number one Abba tribute production in the world highlighted by authentic costumes, made by the seamstress from the hit Broadway musical, Mamma Mia, and incredible vocals by cast members Toby Boyle, Danny Gluckstein, Carly Broome and Katrina Wallis. The vocalists are accompanied by a live onstage band and the show features twenty-two Abba songs in its two-set show with costume changes, choreography, comedy and a great concert sound.

Gwyneth Paltrow at Work on Musical Based on The Go-Go's

According to the Hollywood Reporter, actress and singer Gwyneth Paltrow is in talks to collaborate with producers Donovan Leitch and Rick Ferrari on a theatrical production based on The Go-Go's, the all-female rock band whose early 80s hits include 'We Got the Beat' and 'Vacation.'

Rubicon's Musical Theatre Camp Presents ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, Now thru 8/12

Rubicon's Summer Youth Theatre programs continue with the much anticipated Musical Theatre Camp production. Last Summer's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was honored with an Indy Award from the Santa Barbara Independent for Musical Direction by John Enrico Douglas. This Summer, Douglas joins the artistic team again for Once On This Island, a highly original and theatrical Caribbean fairy tale.

Freda Payne Returns to the Iridium, 11/12-14

Freda Payne returns to the Iridium Nov 12-14 doing her tribute Ella and now Lena. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Freda grew up listening to Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, which inspired her growing interest in music. While still in school, she began her musical career by singing radio commercial jingles. It was then that her polished voice first caught the attention of music executives and other artists. She was wooed with offers of contracts from the likes of Berry Gordy and Duke Ellington, but her mother wanted her to finish school first. After she did, the legendary Pearl Bailey gave Freda her first professional job and this paved the way for her to share the stage with other legends such as Lionel Hampton, Sammy Davis Jr., Billy Eckstine, Quincy ]ones, Bill Cosby and many others. Freda toured with Quincy Jones during his big band era, performing at the world famous Apollo in New York and the Regal in Chicago, among others, and soon after, recorded her first album When The Lights Go Down for Impulse Records.
