Ars Nova Announces Cast for GAME PLAY, Running 1/29-2/8

Ars Nova kicks off 2014 with Game Play, this year's incarnation of Ars Nova's annual Play Group production. An evening of original short plays and live music inspired by classic board game titles, Game Play features Peter Benson, Marcia DeBonis, Dashiell Eaves, Brandon Gill, Ben Graney, Susan Heyward, Jessica Love and Carmen Zilles. This production plays 10 performances, January 29 - February 8.

THE CORRESPONDENT with Thomas Jay Ryan to Begin Performances 1/29 at Rattlestick

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater's Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long have announced that Ken Urban's The Correspondent, directed by Stephen Brackett will begin previews Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, 224 Waverly Place, west of Seventh Avenue South, between West 11th and Perry Streets. The official opening night is set for Thursday, February 13, 2014. The Correspondent is scheduled to run through Sunday, March 16.

DARK WATER to Explore the Effects of An Oil Spill with Manhattan Theatre Works, 3/14-29

MANHATTAN THEATRE WORKS (MTWorks), in association with the Theater Series at the 14th Street Y, is pleased to announce the world premiere of MTWorks Co-Artistic Director David Stallings' DARK WATER, directed by Heather Cohn. DARK WATER, a play about the ramifications of the Gulf oil spill, will play a three week engagement at The Theater at the 14th Street Y (344 East 14th Street at 1st Avenue). Performances begin Friday, March 14 and continue through Saturday, March 29. Opening Night is Monday, March 17 at 7 p.m. Tickets now on sale at www.mtworks.org/darkwater.

Sutton Foster is coming BACK to Broadway, as Roundabout Theatre Company has just announced that it will present two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster in a Broadway production of VIOLET (first seen as part of Encores! Off-Center concert series in 2013), directed by Leigh Silverman. Based on the short story 'The Ugliest Pilgrim' by Doris Betts, VIOLET features music by Jeanine Tesori and book & lyrics by Brian Crawley. Women's Project Theater, the 36-year-old non-profit company dedicated to producing plays written and directed by women, is seeking a few good women for its 2014-2016 Lab of playwrights, directors and producers, underwritten with a generous grant from the Time Warner Foundation.
